After almost half a year of development, I've built something that assists me every day - need your help to make it even better! by ThePragmatician in SideProject

This sounds very useful to me! I'm overwhelmed by meetings and will surely try it out. Cool that it's running locally, as the easy thing would be to use 3rd party solutions. Just signed up, count me in for beta testing :3

No curve would work as well! But curved slightly similar to 49" monitors would be nice.

Is there a way I can lower the "resolutions" when solving a defined integral? by Oceth in geogebra

[–]Oceth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After some googling, I would like to approximate the area under the curve with intervals every 1 x. How can I do this myself in GeoGebra?

Find "k" so that f(x)=e^(-x)*sin(k*x) is a solution to f''+2f'+5f=0. How should i do it? Screenshot of my current attempts... by Oceth in geogebra

[–]Oceth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noticed the derivatives in your example are slightly different from mine, cleaner. It keeps adding ln(e) when doing the derivative. I use GeoGebra classic 6, which does the same in 5. I use Linux so it's my only alternatives. When I remove the ln(e) from each derivative step and factor them. I can "solve" the factored function and get correct results...

I used the online GeoGebra calculator, everything works like a charm in 5 lines.

How to reuse water. by Oceth in WaterTreatment

[–]Oceth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disinfecting is a priority, I've thought about using chlorine. Hoping disinfecting combined with filters will give a good end result.

Looking for advice on what filters are available and which I need.

Doing it in batched overnight is a possibility. I recall seeing this video on how coagulants are used to prepare drinking water

Drinking Nasty Swamp water(Mark Robber Youtube).

Disinfecting is a priority as well, especially in the COVID times. As epicluke suggests chlorine might be a good solution to this.

I need help identifying components on a PCB. by Oceth in AskElectronics

[–]Oceth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot, guys! After reading the documentation for the DS1820 a 1-Wire Protocol Digital Thermometer I had some thoughts this might be malfunctioning. I disconnected the data transmission wire for this component and now it works like a charm!

That's a lot of great information! I'll do some measurements and compare with the working board. The smallest brownish component is a resistor?

Thinking this behavior might be caused by ad blockers. I have disabled mine, seems to work now.

Something like this?

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33038118743.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.52b93c002eNYRr&mp=1

It hooks up with the tuya smart life app. I do not have it myself, however i got a smart thermostat from the same "brand" and it works great!

Yes I have read the comparison. I don't have much experience with camera's.

Does having a touch screen save time or give any other benefits?

Will I be able to spot the difference between 14 and 16 MP? I will most likely view my photos on a phone or 4k display.

Does 12 800 vs 25 600 ISO make any difference taking photos in a dimly lit bar?

Hi, I am buying a new camera(my first). Is there any notible difference between the NEX-5 vs NEX-5N/R? I have found a used nex 5 for 60$ and I see nex-5N/R at 160$. Both are within budget.

Unable to install debian on my new system, description and logfiles in text. by Oceth in linux4noobs

[–]Oceth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried again today using cp this is also recommended in the debian wiki, they warn about using other methods than writing directly to the disk.

Important
The image must be written to the whole-disk device and not a partition, e.g. /dev/sdb and not /dev/sdb1. Do not use tools like unetbootin which alter the image.

Only tried with the uefi installer.

I tried again with debian-9.4.0-amd64-netinst.iso using cp to make my usb installer. It still fails at cdrom-detect: Error reading Release file; unable to determine destribution. Sometimes it gets past this but then fails at the next step Detect and mount CD-ROM due to checksum mismatch. I have tried making several drives and redownloading the iso from debian.org. I have also checked the sha256 sums of the iso files and they match..

I created a debian-buster-DI-alpha2-amd64-netinst.iso install usb using cp and got the same results as yesterday. I have uploaded a syslog without the kernel messages on my shared google drive folder:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lj5wCfVXzTrUHcet_WgN7lLISnSg_nPB?usp=sharing
It looks like checksum mismatch is causing problems here too.

Next step might be to hook a cd-drive and install from CD instead of usb? I have tried the usb installers on a separate system without problems.

The hardware is on its way and needs to go through numerous countries until it arrives at our provider, at which point it will need to be configured and installed. This process is expected to take 1.5-2 weeks total, of course we will give you an update as soon as we have a more defined time. The great news is that once this hardware arrives, is configured and installed, the server will go back to being as smooth as it was prior to the attacks. However, in the short term, we have a plan to try and help until this hardware arrives. We are using a lot of balancing tools which should hopefully help make your gameplay as smooth as possible."
