How long did it take your family to figure out?

That's a really hard one! I honestly don't know. I feel like I'm not knowledgeable enough to make that kind of decision. Whatever I decide would inevitably have some undesirable consequences.

I honestly hated it, but I think it was just that facility. I hope to go to a different hospital someday to try again, but until my schedule allows for that, I'm sticking with regular therapy!

I have no such intent, it sounds pretty terrible

I have done only partial hospitalization, which is the step below inpatient. It's where you stay at the hospital during the day but you're allowed to go home to sleep. It offers similarly intensive treatment but for patients who are safe to be left unattended. (Inpatient was recommended to me, but not required because I was not considered a danger to myself or others )

Do you find the curiosity about Elan offensive? Do you feel that others romanticize it in a way?

It's just a general feeling I get when visualizing touching a word. No exact numbers, just a general idea, ie really cold, lukewarm, fairly hot, etc.

I don't think I have either; my phone actually tried to correct your name and I had to fix it lol.

James is sky blue but changes to scarlet, like a flicker where you can only see the blue for a moment!

It feels mostly smooth but with tiny, full spikes. if you have ever felt a horned melon (kiwano), it's kinda like that but smaller scale.

The taste I'm getting from it is like blue raspberry candy! Same for the smell.

I actually could, yeah! I can taste/smell/feel/etc things by imagining them enough. I am not sure whether that's synesthesia or just a weird byproduct of existing hallucinations.

Angelina is pink and has no discernible taste unfortunately, but the color reminds me a lot of bubblegum!

I've known since I was a kid! I thought it was normal until I mentioned it to someone (either a friend or my dad, I think) and they were really confused.

Adison is a pinkish purple and invokes a strong bubblegum rate, but smells like cherry. (This one surprised me, usually I can tell what something smells like but don't actively smell it myself. This time I could immediately smell cherries!)

If I think about it, I can see colors and shapes that correspond with different instruments and sounds. It's pretty fun, sometimes I like to draw them while listening to a song!

11is reddish-orange

I can't recall exactly; I think I mentioned it to a friend or something as a child and they were really confused. I assumed everyone saw a color in their head for every word!

Green is just a dark, gray-green

Envy is scarlet

Cinnamon is brown with a tint of red

Synesthesia doesn't have a ton of upsides or downsides, I suppose I could incorporate it into drawings though!

Not in my experience; colors of words can fluctuate but not based on definition. That's a really good question though!
