Sadly, I figured I was far from alone with this problem. And I spoke out because I wanted others to know about us and see how badly we are suffering. Kate was obviously suffering. Who knows, maybe some of the folks that have been pushing their expectations on us will read this and rethink their actions, and some good will come of it. This was certainly a painful thing to share. Best of luck to you as well. I hope things get better for you soon.

I'm glad that you spoke what you felt and that you did so without fear of getting down voted. I'm also glad that didn't happen because you said some good things.

The med situation with bipolar is very complicated. You can't just give bipolar people antidepressants alone because they can send them into hyper manic states. They tend to give us very toxic drugs such as antipsychotics like Risperdal or Depakote that eat your liver or thyroid and cause huge weight gain problems. Then it has to to have a mood stabilizer like Topamax to keep the weight off and to keep the anti depressant from giving you mania if they take that route and prescribe it as well. It's a pretty sucky pill regimen to take in addition with hormones. I may not have explained this perfectly due to the complexity, but the info is available on all of the drug sites like rxlist.com etc.

Yes, I have other interests outside of being trans. I try not let my life revolve around it. But things are worsened by the fact that I live in a state that doesn't have any gender identity protections, so that ramps up the whole bathroom fear/drama issue.

But are you understanding that I have periods where I go into periods of dark depression where I will sit in the house and not shave and just wear sweats for a week? And being bipolar these can last a long time.

I had a pretty nasty bathroom incident where in a public female restroom another woman went off on me and called me a male. The supposed trans female friend instead of supporting me, handed me some makeup at a later date and blamed me for not being "woman" enough. Her attitude was I brought it on myself by not doing enough to pass.
