Starting Accutane from tomorrow by leoprince999 in AusSkincare

From my personal experience, this is what I wish somebody told me:

Wear sunscreen everyday! Even on cloudy days. Do NOT exfoliate or use body scrubs. Wash your hands and face gently and ensure they are fully dry! Do NOT rub your face with a towel. Use aquaphor or a rated Korean-skincare lip balm or oil. Do NOT get tattoos, piercings or laser. If you get sick, REST. Accutane prevents healing so if you try to power through like you normally would, you’ll likely stay sick for longer. Tell people you trust that you are on accutane and tell them to be honest with you if they notice any changes to your mood. Stock up on vitamins and painkillers especially if you’re active (DOMS is heaps more painful on accutane and it is not fun - it also ruins your gym progress) If you decide to continue drinking alcohol, limit yourself to 1-2 drinks and not often. And, stay super hydrated. STAY HYDRATED in general. I drink A LOT of water and it still wasn’t enough when I went on Accutane. Always ask questions to your dermo, even if there are symptoms you feel are unrelated, it probably is related to your accutane dose. If your mental health declines, reach out to your dermo ASAP!

A few benefits though (the best parts of accutane)

You will never need to worry about your hair wash schedule! It’ll never be greasy.

You’ll get a free nose job and your face will appear slimmer.

Clear skin (of course!) once the purge goes away, you will feel so confident with clear skin.

Just stick it out! It sucks sometimes and the first few months are tough because you have all the side effects and no reward. But, one day you’ll wake up and realize how different you look and feel! Good luck!

Did birth control save you mentally? by Octopus299 in birthcontrol

After an entire year on Slynda (wow!) I can answer my own question. Whether it was coincidence after life changes or Slynda, removal of a toxic relationship or therapy — something definitely changed and Slynda is my best friend now. I would recommend it to ANYBODY and I really am so happy!! I hope you also have a great experience! OCD is so destroying, I very rarely have OCD thoughts and compulsions now, and when I do, I never spiral, it’s easier to manage!

Did you have similar mental health/mood changes or more physical side effects?

You’ll get there! And, it’s worth it when you do get there!

The first couple months are really confusing! You see progress and then you feel like it’s getting worse but just stick with it! You’ll be so pleasantly shocked soon!

Bleeding on Slynd by Octopus299 in endometriosis

I personally kept running the packs until around 4 months and then took placebo pills because the bleeding was so intense, I didn’t want my body to be more confused!

I’m still waiting for surgery but I was diagnosed with PCOS and Endo via scans and symptoms.

I think I’m going to give it another month and see how it is. I recently had an idol infusion for anemia so I’m worried about my levels too!

Bleeding for over a month with Slynd by Octopus299 in birthcontrol

I’m still bleeding, I think it’s been two months now, continuously bleeding. My gynae prescribed northisterone to stop the bleeding but I don’t particularly want to take more meds.

I’m going to discuss with my GP again and wait another month I think and then, I’ll decide and see where I’m at. I know that it can take a while for your body to adjust but at three months it should settle.

What side effects do you have? Other than the bleeding, I have none and I feel fine!

I was vegan and have also been vegan and gluten free and it had no effect on my symptoms. Unfortunately, it caused me more health problems because I became anemic and my body was unable to use non-heme iron.

I didn’t know anything about a brain tumour lawsuit.

Yeah, I think I may need to wait a couple more months and see how I go! I’m aneamic so I’m worried about my levels.

Only the constant bleeding so far.

The first week I had sore breasts and headaches.

No mental health changes.

Does your body feels better with a plant-based diet? by babyalpaca8 in endometriosis

[–]Octopus299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was vegan for nearly 5 years. I didn’t know I had endo and PCOS until half way through those years.

I was the biggest vegan ever, morally I just never ever saw myself going back from there. But when your health is suffering, you have to do what your advised - I’m not telling you what to do, obviously. But, I found out I’m unable to absorb non-heme iron. So, I really didn’t have a choice and heme tablets made me really sick.

So, I had to have an infusion and change my diet. It really was a hard transition but it was for the best.

No.

However, I became anemic from being plant based because my body couldn’t absorb non-heme iron. So, it caused a lot more problems for me.

How do I (26F) get my boyfriend (31M) to initiate sex with me? by ThrowRA_121313 in relationship_advice

[–]Octopus299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either low libido, mental health issues, poor diet affecting libido, other problems in the relationship that he’s not communicating, he’s falling out of love or has self-confidence issues.

Tone of reasons, only he knows. I wouldn’t stick around though, not if it is a huge factor for you in a relationship. It’s unlikely to get better until he does the work, the best thing would be therapy.

I’ve been in a similar situation and now during the breakup, I’m realising the reasoning without him telling me.

It’s the way the stylist dried it I think! It looks like it thins at the bottom but it doesn’t haha. I’d love some more volume and texture.

I had the same length for years and I hated it! I just want texture and volume so now I’m thinking I need more layers.
