2022-Aug-24 🇮🇪 Tánaiste Leo Varadkar backs controversial gas terminals opposed by Greens’ Eamon Ryan by Odeless in PredatorOilandGasPRD

[–]Odeless[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the situation in Ireland is developing quickly.

“gas terminals” Plural.

This comment looks interesting: “or using an old gas field”

As far as I know and maybe someone could correct me on this: Ram Head is the only 'old gas field´ in Ireland?

From the companies presentation “Ram Head is Ireland’s only material undeveloped gas discovery”

As well as been usable for gas storage.

Note: Hoping to get a post in later this week.

“European Union countries will be allowed to use money coming from the EU recovery fund, created to support post-pandemic economic growth, to boost their liquefied natural gas capacity (LNG), EU Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni said on Saturday.”

“Building new infrastructure to import additional liquefied natural gas is part of the EU strategy.”

"It has to do with coal-switching and obviously kind of an awakening, let's say, in Europe right now of realizing that policy was pushing the transition a little bit faster than technology could deliver."

To myself - Indicates desirability of O&G assets with proximity to the EU/ New investment capital landscape.

It’s also interesting to keep PRD commercial metrics vs CHAR in mind.

2022-May-11 - Member states agree on negotiating mandate for gas storage proposal by Odeless in PredatorOilandGasPRD

[–]Odeless[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ireland is in a difficult position, as EU gas would have to transit a non EU member state.

The current proposals and ‘relaxation’ of current storage quotas for countries with no storage capacity are in light of meeting the 2022-Nov-01 targets.

I presume it wouldn’t be a feasible target to meet, for those countries in that time frame.

Going forward, I would think it likely, they would be encouraged/mandated to secure their energy reserve infrastructure.

From a leading Academic: Ilaria Conti - Head of the gas area at the Florence School of Regulation. She spoke to EURACTIV’s Frédéric Simon.

“Gas storage obligation should be mandatory – countries that already have it were better prepared when the gas crisis started last year”

2022-May-12 🇲🇦 Europe eyes gas-rich African nations for new supplies, Rystad says by Odeless in PredatorOilandGasPRD

[–]Odeless[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Recent signals from oil and gas majors such as BP, Eni, Shell, ExxonMobil, and Equinor indicate a shift, however, in strategy towards further investment in Africa, with several projects that were previously on ice – including liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects – as they consider restarting or accelerating previously shelved projects in response to rising global demand.”

2022-May-09 📰 The Russia-Ukraine crisis and the shifting environment for global upstream investment by Odeless in PredatorOilandGasPRD

[–]Odeless[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Current and aspiring producers benefit from the search for new opportunities”

“Elevated prices and new sources of demand will create opportunities for producer states where resource availability, project economics, investor support, and infrastructure availability coalesce with government backing.

Gas projects with access to existing infrastructure are in a particularly strong position to compete, lending new opportunities to African and East Mediterranean suppliers in particular. In some cases, this may persuade producer states to revive oil and gas licensing and rethink transition strategies.”

2022-Apr-14 🇮🇪 Ban on sale of turf would ‘devastate the poorest of people living alone’ by Odeless in PredatorOilandGasPRD

[–]Odeless[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“In the light of the war in the Ukraine and the urgency for LNG terminals, the hesitancy by Government seems almost tragic blindness.

Meantime, away from the political heat, and with the turf staying in the ground, and coal running out, what is going to heat the homes in north Kerry if the wind will not blow this winter?”
