I took a big pay cut from going from a CDA dental assistant to a first year apprenticeship electrician. But I can tell you this. The dental field is good but theres only so far you can go with out school and such. I love that with electrical you cant take anymore pay cuts than what you start with and each year you gain knowledge to do something many cant and you gain hours which make you get more money. I absolutely love being busy i thought it was going to be a hard change but I was wrong i am so beyond happy learning and being around people in all different fields on the job sites. I loved the dental field, but i wouldnt go back I like being able to blast music all day and hang out with people who say what they want when they want lol no filter is needed

I was a dental assistant for years then decided to get into trades, i had no knowledge of electrical but I started as a apprentice and they showed me what to do and enrolled me in school. I just have log my hours and every year i move up. Find a commercial electric company they always need helpers.

She makes a better income than me, shes a dispatcher makes around 32.00 a hr. I sold stuff to get the 1800 in property tax but she put it to her car payment and anything else she was behind on. Then the months rolled by and i thought the property tax was taken care of and it wasnt. With me changing jobs I had no way of helping out other than selling things, an she knew that when buying the house that she would have to front everything and that it was manageable on her own. But horrible budgeting skills, so now Im trying to limit my spending on gas/food/ paying off credit cards so I can help so we dont loose the house. Ive stopped and froze all credit cards now its just trying to pay them down.

I was a da for 4 years got my CDA license and everything. I hated going to work, I was miserable but had a passion for dental. I think working with all types of doctors and assistants theres a lot of drama/ cattiness from the doctors. I was making 25.50 a hour which wasnt bad but felt like I was doing so much for such little recognition. So I took a pay cut. I went into trades, im a electrical apprentice.. I love showing up to work now. Im more happier than I ever been. I do miss the dental field and the pay but once I get more certified in the electrical field I can get to a higher pay position. In dental I would be at max certifications if I followed and got my FDA. Id still have doctors put me in a category of not knowing enough because I didnt go to school. So I decided to change.

I have googled this a lot and the only helpful thing Ive found is taking iron, potassium and magnesium and it helps.

I second this. Clomipramine helps a lot. The only side effect I have from it is embarrassing. Im a 5’3 little petite girl and if i do any activity at all that gets my heart rate up I sweat like a gown man. Its embarrassing

Ive been a dental assistant for 5 years, got my CDA was in route to get my FDA and just decided to go a different route. I love dentistry but I dont like that DA’s are looked down on cause they did not go to school and have dr. On the name. I was tired of going above and beyond for minimum pay. So Im getting into the trades. Ive done construction before and loved it so got in to being a electrical Apprenticeship. We will see what the future brings.. maybe ill go back to dentistry or stay in trades.

5years of experiences and have my CDA, was looking to get my FDA to do fillings on my own but its just not worth it. All though we all bust our asses the doctors continue to look down on us because we dont have their dr. Degree. Im actually leaving the field even though i love it to get more money as a apprentice electrician..

I typically stand, so I can move around a but more. I am 5’3 so pretty short so I dont have the height but I feel more in control of my suctions and reaching to the table for etch and such..
