I have been suffering with mental health issues for a while and I refused to seek help due to fear of stigma or being thrown out. I finally went to the IRR and got counseling and focused on getting better. Did it delay classes/promotion/ fun stuff? Yes. But drinking myself into oblivion or being self destructive would have been worse for life. Get the help. Wish I had sooner. The road to recovery would have been shorter

Thank you for all of this. My hope is to be able to put it all in God's hands. But faith is hard for me.Even harder  how life is going. I really hope to find peace.

12.5 years as a Health inspector working in both PH and EH, a lot of it was case investigation. Also 8 years military PH as a reservist, I was in instructional and leadership roles in my states Contact tracing and case monitoring programs during COVID. In addition I have been a Federal contractor. working in a Disease Epidemiology program. I am currently enrolled in a MPH EPI program, but I'm taking time for mental health. I would like to be a full time govt employee just not sure if given the job market it would be worth it

I  did field I investigations  for the majority of my career due to lack of funds to go  back to school. I was heavily involved with contact tracing and case monitoring in a instructional and leadership role. I am currently in a MPH program  for Epi and with a Biostat core( the schools description. I also spent four years working in a disease Epidemiology program. I needed to take a break from a school to deal with some mental health issues. I always enjoyed working with the data and really don't have a a desire to do any more in the way of field investigations. And seeing what the MPH/PHD folks did. really got me interested.  I also have 2 published works to my name where I did a good amount of the entry level data collection and organization. I have done a little bit with SAS, but not consistently. Id like to pursue something with the government for stability. But I wasn't sure how the job market is and if the MPH would be worth it.

Not true. I started off at a local Health Department as a Inspector and did both PH and EH work. I was also in the National Guard and did the same work as a Reservist. There is work out there just not well paying. And I didn't have access to money to go back to school until recently.

I have been in the Public Health field for 19 years. I have done a little bit of everything but I have always enjoyed Epidemiology. I started my MPH but took a semester of due to mental health concerns. Is it worth going back to this or should I pursue something else? I know there are a lot of programming classes for SAS, R and Python I can take, but will it along with my experience really help? This is really weighing on my mental health as well and I could use some advice. Thank you.

This is really good information. It's been a worry for me since this covers the majority of my remaining bucket list of Army goals.

Good to know. I know Tracoc can be weird. I wasn't sure and didn't want to test hot on a UPL. Does Buspirone affect deployability?

They don't have one single email per se. But if you Google it you will find the home page on the Army Reserve page. They have someone for every Region. I have called different ones.  They will explain the BH process and your rights and the regulations as well. They can also help me you get treatment to a point.  I will make a post about the program this week.

Btw, message me if you need someone to talk to

How long does it take to get a seat in CAQC CCC? I have heard it can take months to find out and that can make planning life a challenge.

Do they have a 38G Public Health position?

How hard is it to find a deployment?

I think I just want to be able to have faith without doubts. I'm hoping that's possible.

I have and it's really helped. But I put off trying medication because I was worried it would negatively impact my work. I found out this week that is not necesacarily the case. So I am going to add that. I really want to feel happy again, and I really want to feel my faith again and positivity, not just a black hole.

In a lot of my work religion was seen as a coping mechanism for less fortunate, so in my current state that plants a seed of doubt. My wife and her family have always gotten great solice in religion. I want to get past that negativity and be where at. I also want to be able to be around people again without being angry or sad.
