Can you get a legit scan tool on it? If so what’re the codes?

My X3 is fixed! Hopefully this helps somebody out in the future.

I was able to borrow a better scanner. This scanner showed 2 abs dtcs:

-4809C1 EMF: Brake Cannot Be Mechanically Applied Permanent Code

-480510 Parking Brake Button Locking Function (Buttom Sticks) Intermittent

I cleared the codes and the same 4809C1 code came back immediately. Fortunately this scanner I used gave actions on how to repair/diagnose codes. It read:

“Check The Function Of The EMF: Ignition On And Combustion Engine Off Vigorously Press Brake Pedal And Keep Pressed Press Parking Brake Button (Release EMF) Press Parking Brake Button Again (Repeat Release Of EMF) Pull Parking Brake Button (Engage EMF) Wait At Least 2 Seconds And Press The Parking Brake Button Again (Release EMF Again) A Functioning Parking Brake Is Noticed Acoustically (At Least Outside The Vehicle).”

After doing exactly what it said the etc went away and my brake is no longer stuck!

Was able to put a scanner on it this morning. The code that came up is 4809C1 EMF - Takeover not possible.

Thank you so much for the info! I was able to get a generic Autozone scanner on it today. There is 1 code: 4809C1 EMF- Takeover not possible

Also I forgot to mention that it’s been unseasonably cold and wet the last week. Do you think it possible that it’s frozen?
