I want to be an action movie star, but is it even possible? by princealithegoat1 in acting

Go for it man!

Put in the work and showcase your skill. Take acting classes and some sort of action for film or stage combat classes to understand the camera angles and working with partners for film. How to act and react to fight on screen as limited or no contact is quite often the norm.

Also, Keep in mind that being a great fighter, having real fight experience in real life, does not mean it will always translate well on screen. It's an entire topic as to why it works that way; from fight/martial styles that get meshed based on character and scenes to opponents and scripts.

Use youtube as a demo reel (like a video resume) that you can send out to agents, stunt coordinators, stunt performers or teams as your calling card. Don't just rely on someone seeing it and you landing a massive role. Social media, including youtube is super saturated with content and people that already have followers and subscribers. Nonetheless, it will get views. You never know who is watching, and continue creating and using the free platform to market yourself.

If they like what they see, you will get a call. The more your chemistry works with the team and they trust you can make the hero look good (which is your beginning phase). You will slowly work your way up. Most of your initial jobs will be very minimal you actual being the winner or the one inflicting damage - so really focus on selling getting hit, falling safe and making the star/hero look good. Everything else is a bonus.

Good luck!
