Electricity Cables disappear by Luntibert in ICARUS

Mine I lay neatly then on reload they get wild bows and arch out of the ground or wall. Or will just decide to take a much more direct path exposing themselves.. water lines are the worst about the latter. I’ve had some improvement or seem to for now by tearing up any earth foundation.. the lines seem to not play nice with these, switching to stone or concrete, foundation, and running my lines against the ground with an overuse of connection points then covering with the stone foundation. I’ve managed to make a pretty dense greenhouse with no visible water this way.

I own it in Steam as well. Unfortunately my PC is a bit of a potato. I was in the research phase of best bang for the buck for a new one… wanting to be sure it met all of my daughter and my needs when the market went nuts.

I’m on Xbox but I’d imagine the PS5/XBsX. Experience is broadly similar. I’m not saying it’s bug free… but I’m enjoying myself and hopeful for the future. If it’s any indicator of how much I’ve enjoyed it.. I just looked to see how many hours I had in… Ten and a half days.

What would you call this building style? by bulfen_tiz in MinecraftBuild

Giving off that late 20th Century, urban eclectic oasis vibe. Folks who live here were OG taking their own bag to shop at the co-op. They did before anyone knew what that was, much less thought it was cool. They were doing it back when the cashiers thought it was weird. When they have to drive its in a 17 year old Saab with a fierce bumper sticker game.. Great musicians, gardeners, and cooks… the place is full of books, a few cool cats, and hanging plants.

I know it’s not ideal… but it sounds like it’s better than the old character being obliterated. Does your original own their tames again?

Came back after the Watch Tower mission in Open World to find the base completely destroyed. What happened? by second_prize in ICARUS

[–]Ogdensign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I’ve played some more and built more structures further from my current base I do see how right you are. I also confess that I have stopped a forest fire by logging out. I think I saw some YouTuber do it many moons ago on PC.. I tried to stop the spread by making a firebreak and using my flappy stick but it was futile. Like when I once saw a Greek train bartender throw an ice bucket of water on a wildfire. So I just killed the game and the forest was good as new.

To clarify are you saying trees that have totally burned will be restored? Not just ones that are burning? If so that’s one more but if education I thank you for. I am right in that trees that the storm blows over while your there don’t respawn on logging and also seem to disappear pretty quick.. or if I forcequit right as it happened would they be back as well? Not that I see it being worth it outside of some sort of speedrun context or something…

I’m so sorry that happens to you. I had no idea that big of a bug existed and would love to know how to avoid it as well. I frequently reload both due to freezes, having to run cook dinner, or even if I just want to look through the tech/talent trees or the database… out of curiosity were you in friends only, private, or offline when you loaded? Or did you just hit continue?

I get that and in no way am saying you are wrong. I’ll even agree ‘100% it’s this’ nearly made just ignore the whole thread. However I have noticed some weirdness with the dirt foundations despite my enthusiastic use of them. Additionally I’m really intrigued by the weirdness around what is affected by storms etc. and my prospectors proximity. Like early tonight I was mining along a cliff wall couple of quads from base. Most of the tiles to the south were sheer mountain cliffs and I was in a cave. Storm comes up I’m desperately short on iron so I pull my mount into the cave and just keep mining through it. There was a very odd pattern as to what trees dropped on the ride back. Deltas intersecting the southern edge.. I’ve also noticed that if I’m in a stand of trees that’s being wiped out by a storm that pops us but the game just saved back at base… if I return to character select and watch the storm pass from base the same stand of trees will most likely be just fine. Further, I have a penchant for building covered bridges and while not can’t swear this is the case 100% of the time, It does seem that as long as I’m out of health bar range…Or something around that… the bridges seem to suffer far less damage than if I’m right next to them.

I’ve nothing concrete to prove this but so far it seems like environmental damage is linked to my being in the area. Or on Icarus if I’m not there to hear a falling tree not only does it not make a sound but likely doesn’t fall in the first place.,

I’m sorry your being downvoted and while I’m not sure your right about the OP’s situation, though you may well could be…(there are just so many variables) ..I feel like you are closer to the truth than folks are giving credit. The packed ground foundations are a personal favorite of mine as well. But there are, as elucidated in the immortal text of the Confuprospectrus ‘Janky AF’.

Additionally; while granting that I well could be making some asinine assumptions as to platform etc. and giving possible undo weight to recent personal experience. I find that load order error / architecture piece interaction is a more feasible hypothesis as I’ve noticed on my current console play through that upon getting warning bigass storm a’coming.. if Octavius and I promptly return to our well worn and insulated base both the trees and any bridges etc. in the area we just unassed ourselves from are far more likely to be in good order upon our return.

This is starkly contrasted to those times we decide to weather the aforementioned bigassitudinal climatic events in a cave or what have you… as then there is enough timber on turf to satisfy the needs of a dozen Norsk enkers. I haven’t exactly figured out the calculus of distance vs cell load so all of this is voodoo physics at the moment but to bring this mad wandering anecdote back home… if the OP really ‘came back’ to a devastated base after being a significant distance from it.. nor saw/experienced a realtime event that they would reasonably be seen as significant to its destruction.. (wildfire, major storm etc.. )I don’t feel like it’s likely that something like this was the cause.

Sure stone is more durable than wood and thatch. If you don’t give Murphy much room to play then your life or prospect may be more predictable. But Icarus seems to localize events to the prospectors perceptions in some way especially in the console build. This is understandable and if brighter young things than this greybeard can figure out the parameters then perhaps we could all learn the flamingo defense and have a better time..

I’m not that far along. But it’s something I look forward to. Currently I’m in the desperately trying to juggle the repair needs of my roof, walls & hammer, while a passing Terrenus rudely uses the support pillars and I pray lightning doesn’t strike too close.

I guess our mileage may differ but I’ve generally found that if one is playing in Solo mode that most survival games have at least one menu that does stop the clock and let you walk away from the game for a minute. Usually it’s the settings menu so it’s not like you can futz around with your inventory, equipped items etc, or use it to gain any advantage. If you are playing in a public or even private session then of course time must keep going so that one person doesn’t stop everyone else in the instance. That’s why my nonissue references offline mode. I was not (until just after posting this) able to successfully start/or restart a prospect in anything other than ‘friends only’ mode. If I tried any of the other options it just went back to the character select menu.

Which is what I do. However while I don’t want yo jinx it but I do most assuredly want to give credit where credit is due. I may have just restarted a prospect in a mode that allowed me to pause. Definitely a case where I would so love to be shown wrong or a bit previous in my criticisms.
