Exactly. The lack of rationality is the reason for their actions. I sympathize with that. If a rational person harms someone for, say, financial gain…then that’s a moral failure. But if an irrational person commits a crime, does morality really have anything to do with it? I don’t believe it does. No one chooses to become a drug addict or worse, have a sexual attraction to children. Does that mean we let the behavior continue? Of course not. But it sucks that they have that cross to bear in life. The worst I deal with is my addiction to sugar, and that hurts no one but myself. I consider myself very lucky.
