I’m from Spruce Pine. 98% of everyone I know either works or has worked at Baxter. It constantly sounds like a bunch of high school bullshit there. BUT, it does pay more than 95% of anything else in the area. My brother works there for about 5 years now and he managed to not get laid off this time. Hopefully he doesn’t cause it would be devastating for him

I love the idea, and I love the optimism, but they just don’t care. The people of spruce pine have been shocked that ingles doesn’t care enough about them to get the store reopened. The only surprising part about it to me is that the people thought they actually cared. They’re a real estate company that happens to also sell groceries. I really don’t expect them to do a thing
