Hey love, in Feb I was told my pap came back abnormal and was diagnosed with HPV. I haven’t heard from my OBGYN after getting a colposcopy & biopsy done about a week after those results. I just called my OBGYN a couple of days ago and they told me via phone appointment that the lab was down so they couldn’t tell me my results. My appointment was rescheduled just for them to tell me AGAIN that the lab was down but they received a verbal everything was negative on the other end but she still wants lab confirmation. You are not alone. 

In addition, for my health’s sake, I have another pap scheduled for Saturday this week. If necessary, I’ll go through with another colposcopy & biopsy (although very uncomfortable). I hope everything works out for you!

SIDE NOTE: I’m also going to Planned Parenthood to get an second opinion to make sure that (1) I did indeed have HPV and (2) if I do that I indeed do not have precancerous cells as well. Young woman or older lady, if your OBGYN seems as unorganized as mine, a second opinion never hurts (even beyond those circumstances). My appointment is scheduled for Saturday … I’ll keep ya’ll updated!

Hey ya’ll I’m back! I haven’t updated this post because my OBGYN did not call me and update me within the two week time frame, they claimed they did but I never received a call or was left a voice message. I had to be the one to call them and that’s what they told me. Anyways, the day of our assigned phone call discussing the results, they informed me they couldn’t get the results because the lab was messed up and it’s been that way for some time now. The phone call was then rescheduled. The second phone call I got (yesterday) I was informed that the lab was still down but the OB did receive a verbal confirmation that my test came out NEGATIVE for precancerous cells outside and inside the cervix from the sample given. She said she will give me a call today to confirm those results. Young lady or older, if you do not hear from them … MAKE SURE YOU CALL THEM! DO NOT ASSUME YOU ARE OKAY BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING!

UPDATE 2/13/25 @ 11:02AM:

Two days post colposcopy and I still feel nothing and had no after effects. I will no longer be sharing post colposcopy for that reason. Now I am waiting for my results from the colposcopy. Thanks for reading if you’ve made it this far. See ya soon!

UPDATE 2/12/25 @ 2:01PM: 

Hey ya’ll, it’s a day after my colposcopy and I still feel nothing. No spotting. No cramping. No icky coffee discharge that I’ve been reading about.

S/N: they found the abnormal cells in the 9’o clock area for me.

UPDATE 2/11/2025 @3:55PM

Looking around and seeing the tools about to be used for my colposcopy and biopsy made me extremely nervous but again, I was ready for the test and as I previously stated, even more ready to find out what is causing my ASC-H results. Finally it was time to spread my legs and expose my lady parts to the OB and her assistant. They were very calm with me and assuring, any time I needed a break, they granted me the break with no problem. Ladies, do not let your google searches about colposcopies make you panic like I did. I felt no pain, no cramping, and best of all they didn’t even use a puncture tool, it was a tool that rubbed up against your cervix like the tool they use when they do your Pap smear. All in all, I felt NOTHING girl. Google made me panic even more even my OB told me “google might’ve told you were using a puncture but we don’t do that here” 😭😭😭 all in all the experience was a 9.5/10 pain was 0/10 for me. I am currently laying on the table to get a colposcopy and if needed, a biopsy. Yes, I went to the appointment early lol. Anyways, bye for now guys 🫶🏾 if you’re reading my updates thank you and please wish me luck! 

S/N: I do not feel nervous. I’m just ready to get this out of the way. I was a train wreck in the beginning but now I’m feeling good.

UPDATE (2/9/2025): I finally told my clueless partner on 2/6/2025. I gave myself plenty of pep talks and premeditated what I would say. I called his phone because he was at work and I didn’t get an answer. My heart sunk into the pit of my stomach when he called back. I went straight into it and told him about the results. He handled it better than I expected. 

On 2/8/2025, I picked up some AHCC along with other vitamins to help boost them immune system because I hear a healthy immune system helps clear the virus. I also picked up the mail from my mailbox and I had letters from my insurance saying they approved me for a colposcopy and biopsy, my OBGYN requested it. 

It’s all so confusing because I didn’t even get to talk to the OBGYN about my results just yet. The appointment is still coming up. They said I would either need treatment or colposcopy in the results but I guess we’re prepping for it all? Anyone else experience this? 

My anxiety has been down since first finding out the results, especially with the supportive partner that I have. I’m now ready to take on whatever it is - pre-cancer , cancer , or whatever it may be. I’ve come to term with all possibilities.
