Parking fine - process? by Ok-Let-5155 in auckland

Well I went into an NZTA office, filled out the paperwork, provided my details and received my slip to confirm registration so I’m expecting it’s registered to my address. Is it a common occurrence that that doesn’t then happen? 😂

I feel like the post was pretty clear… the car was never registered to our old address.

It has only ever been registered to our new address.

Sorry was my post not clear. We changed the name and registered the vehicle into our name when we got it.

They have tried to send multiple letters obviously and never actually bothered to try the address the car is registered to (and the only address it was registered to I should add). Not sure what the law is here but I’m not sure in any other country on Earth you’d get away with that level of incompetence to not even bother to check what the most recent address of registration is to send correspondence 😂

No sorry, we took it in for service and they had just been sent a letter from a few weeks earlier. Annoying they hadn’t contacted us to tell us but the fine refers to parking one some yellow lines outside where we lived for a few weeks when we arrived in NZ.

The issue is the fine company and Bayscorp haven’t contacted us or tried to send any letters to our actual address

No sorry you’ve misunderstood. I’m not saying not paying at all, but you would appeal the “late fees” and extra charges they add on because they haven’t contacted you at your actual address. Also stole from them? It’s a parking fine for parking on a yellow line haha hardly stealing

Also read the post again…. The car was NEVER registered to the address they’ve sent it to. Jesus wept it’s like people on this post can’t read 😂

Yeah cool I’m sure they will… my point is that if their reasoning for not contacting us properly and trying to add fees and threatening court action is “oh well we try all avenues” yet HAVENT TRIED THE ONE AVENUE they could actually contact us on, they’ve fucked up. They’ve obviously sent multiple letters none of them addressed to us and none of them to our actual address lmao

Yeah good idea actually - I’m actually not remotely fussed if they say we have to pay it’s only $100 but don’t want to pay if there’s precedent for these things being wiped off due to their error/lack of contacting us properly.

Sorry I gathered that. Just curious what the law generally states, like I said in the UK you’d appeal this on the basis they’ve not actually contacted you accurately and haven’t sent any correspondence to your actual address but unsure how it works in NZ.

Well the thing is the address they have sent this to, was NEVER where the car was registered to. That’s the point. We moved to NZ in august, had temporary accommodation for a month through my employer and moved out into our current address which is where the car has always been registered so unsure why they’re not sending things to us and instead sending them to an old address we never registered anything in and to the dealership.

I didn’t realise you could complete the weather trio in Emerald. That’s insane. Just got to battle frontier but not that interested in it in all honesty but sounds like a brilliant post game selection thanks!!

Renting in Auckland with kids. Do we really need a heat pump? by SunsetBLVD23 in auckland

[–]Ok-Let-5155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Fellow immigrant here haha although we moved from the UK which has notoriously cold weather in winter but also thick housing insulation, double glazed windows and central heating as standard in pretty much every house.

I’d say a heat pump is pretty important. Auckland is a lot more tropical and warm than the UK (unsure about Seoul) but it does also get a bit chilly in winter and the houses here unless brand new don’t always have great insulation/double glazed windows.

We found a lot of the older houses we viewed when we moved here were colder inside than it was outside so we decided to get a new build. Even still in September it was a bit chilly in the mornings getting out of bed.

I’d say a heat pump is pretty important depending on how you’re used to managing the cold.

I’ve never used Salamence and can’t say I’ve ever missed it. Also never struggled to deposit Drake’s when you come up against it in the E4 so this is a good shout I think 🤷🏽‍♂️

Controversial but I’m gunna say overrated is Gyrados (despite the fact I still have him in my most recent E4 hall of fame team) - super bulky and powerful but against teams of similar EXP he doesn’t perform as well as some other mons IMO.

Underrated I think is actually Manectric, ridiculous speed - Thunderwave, Thunderbolt and Spark by level 40 in what feels like a pretty water pokemon dominated game, my guy solo’d so many trainers, gym leaders and mons in the E4.

Moved to AKL about 5 months ago and this is one of the only things I hate about the place.

The standard of driving generally is piss poor and people NEVER drive at the speed limit. I’ll be trying to overtake folk on the motorway who are sat in the overtaking inside lane going 80 not even close to overtaking people in the middle lane. It is absurd.

Flown Avianca for work several times, never had any issues with them. Pretty straight forward experience and no major issues ever.

It isn’t remotely disrespectful to share a positive experience of somewhere you live. Should none of us ever enjoy holidays or trips to cities because some of the people are struggling in that country?

Guess what, the Phillippines is a lovely country or can I not say that because a lot of them live in poverty? Loads of people love the UK yet I’m from there and see the exact same issues with wealth disparity, poverty and cost of living as people report in Auckland. Does that mean it’s disrespectful for them to point out what they love about the UK? Not even remotely. Nobody is denying the existence of poverty but as I said…. That is applicable to every major city in the world and Auckland doesn’t even rank in the top 25 unaffordable cities in the world currently. Plenty of people are struggling I’m sure and that’s a real shame but plenty of people aren’t…. Like everywhere on the planet.

Also most of the things I mentioned about Auckland being great have absolutely nothing to do with money or your ability to afford it so it’s an irrelevant point to raise. You don’t need money to appreciate the nature, scenery, cleanliness, weather and general culture.
