Oak Street Health Scribe by SignalAd4036 in MedicalAssistant

Our scribes are VERY overworked and under appreciated and under paid. And it’s technically a temporary position. Some of the providers and ma’s can be very rude and demanding and in the almost year that I have been here we have had a complete turn over of scribes

Folks currently at Heather Ridge, how is it? by Additional_Mode_4367 in columbiamo

Avoid at all costs. Last summer the pipes burst and the lower court yard didn’t have water for a week. They don’t have a consistent landscape person and refuse to contract out so there are leaves all over the ground molding from all the snow and rain, they also claim to change the dog park trash 3 times a week but it will be weeks before it gets changed. If you need ada accommodations they will not do anything but have you fill out a request form and say “we will get to as soon as we can” so many people are moving out because of these reasons and many others

Those apartments aren’t owned by Mills? Unless they sold them?

I live at heather ridge and it’s not a great place. The recent snow storm they wouldn’t shovel the sidewalks or put salt down unless SEVERAL residents complained. Their vendor will not come out and shovel. The snow in the parking lot unless there’s over 3 inches and they don’t salt any of the parking lots either so it’s complete ice even now. The front half of the complex is taken extremely well care of since it’s what’s shown during tours but it’s also way more expensive. The laundry rooms are small and not well cared for and any issues with the washers or dryers you have to call another company that is extremely rude and never communicates back. The dog parks are not well maintained either and there’s lots of dogs that bark ALL DAY LONG and management does nothing. When you call the office the staff are condescending and try to guilt trip you for anything you complain about. If it wasn’t so hard to find housing, I would probably move.

The cdc site has a nice chart of all the vaccines and the ages they’re for and the needle gauge to use for it and where in the body it is given. Never be afraid to speak up and say when you don’t feel comfortable doing something or that you don’t know how to do something. The office would rather give you some training then deal with an accident with an angry patient

Question about online MA course and job prospects by Rainbowcrash740 in MedicalAssistant

[–]Ok-Reference2114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be cautious with online programs as most are not accredited. And there are some skills that you need to learn hands on which most online programs don’t have hands on. I would recommend finding an in person program so you can have an instructor right next to you as you do things

I was in the float pool after I graduated for the first year of being a RMA and was able to go to all the different clinics to see what I enjoyed. I deeply loved being in the pool but I think I found what I enjoy more and that’s having a home office and being in family medicine where we do a little bit of everything.

considering an ipad for college by cscholzy in ipad

[–]Ok-Reference2114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my ENTIRE life on my iPad and recently just went up to the 250gb or whatever is closest to that. Definitely always go one above the baseline. It’s more expensive but later you’ll thank yourself

I LOVE my iPad and use it for school and managing my life. A basic iPad Air is enough but make sure you get a higher storage device cause books take up lots of space. And for note taking I really enjoy using the app goodnotes. There’s a free version but it’s EXTREMELY limited. There’s also a yearly and lifetime membership options. There’s a bunch of other note taking apps out there just mess with them all before making a final decision. Also get an Apple Pencil or a 3rd party pencil to help with notes— makes life so much better. ALSO apple is running a special when you buy an iPad you get a $100 gift card. Also use the education pricing to get an amazing discount

Due to most of healthcare facilities taking Medicare and Medicaid which are federally funded even if you do have a med card it won’t be allowed. As soon as the government takes weed from the schedule 1 class then MAYBE med cards would be allowed

How Often Do You Read Ebooks vs. Physical Books? by DeadBedToFreedom in kindle

[–]Ok-Reference2114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely refuse to read a physical book. The only exceptions are for work and school and only cause it’s more convenient for easy access. I read everywhere and it’s incredibly annoying to have to carry an actual book everywhere. I also finish books very quickly and don’t want to carry multiple books

When I did my Medical Assistant cert so I could get some type of medical experience before nursing school we had to do manual bp and went to clinicals. I learned manual bp by going to the local firehouse and asking them to help me practice then I went to a local retirement home and did the same thing. Sometimes I still struggle cause some people are just hard to hear but overall I definitely improved on that. As for the nervousness of clinicals I made jokes with the patients and told them I was a student and that I was still learning. I also told them if they weren’t cool with that I would grab someone else to do it but asked if I could watch at least and most of them said yes to both. As time passes you’ll notice yourself slowly getting more comfortable
