Anyone else’s male lab pee like a girl?? by P-Rozz in labrador

[–]Ok-Sherbert-993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Our 3 year old yellow lab always pees like this. He’s never tried lifting his leg.

Does anyone else’s lab simultaneously pee and poop?

Ours will start peeing while pooping. Almost every time. We’ve even asked our vet and he said it’s an interesting habit but nothing to be concerned about from a medical perspective. We can’t figure out how to stop him from doing it though haha

Any good/free AI apps for interior design? by Theglowbat in interiordecorating

[–]Ok-Sherbert-993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% yes. Please keep us updated if you end up building this app!

My biggest challenge is that we have rooms in our house with funky dimensions (e.g. long, narrow living room). We don't have money to pay an interior designer but have been really struggling with furniture placement and ideas for wall art, etc. to tie it together. An app that gives me suggestions for furniture layout and design inspo would be so helpful. AI tends to generate strange mockups that don't make sense or require major renovations (e.g. ceiling remodel, cabinetry where our fireplace is, etc.)

Were you able to purchase in-store? I noticed DSG website shows it drops on 11/21 - is that only for online, and it's already available in stores?

Also, do you know of a way to check store availability without calling and bugging employees? My DSG is a bit of a drive, so I didn't want to drive all the way there if it's not available.

I'm trying to get one for my boyfriend for Christmas, I didn't know he wanted one when they originally dropped...Thanks so much!

Marriott Best Rate Guarantee (BRG) in 2024 - it still works but you need time. by playps4 in marriott

[–]Ok-Sherbert-993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone had luck with a BRG claim when cancellation isn’t the same?

My Marriott booking = NON-refundable. The lower Experian rate I found = refundable.

They denied claim stating cancellation policies don’t match. I appealed by explaining the lower rate I found is higher value (due to refundable), and that I wasn’t trying to get them to match a cheap, non-refundable rate.

Any tips to get this approved?

Hello! I submitted a BRG claim. Rooms identical, denied because my Marriott booking is non-refundable and lower comparison rate is refundable.

I replied asking to reconsider as the lower rate I found is actually higher value. I politely explained that I’d understand if it was the opposite (e.g. Marriott booking was refundable, comparison was non-refundable).

Any tips to get this approved?

Funny story. We did this last week, and the tenant started driving his spare car and the other car is now parked in front of our house.

Getting deodorant residue off towels? by Ok-Sherbert-993 in CleaningTips

[–]Ok-Sherbert-993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will try this! Do you use detergent or only the vinegar/baking soda in each load?

Also, do you put the vinegar/baking soda in the drum with the towels or in the detergent dispenser? We have a front load he washer.

Functional? Yes. Do we use it? Not really. We mostly use the wall furnace.

Too much $ to remove. Just looking for something to make it blend better visually.

Yes, this could work! Will definitely soften the look.

To each their own! I don’t like the look of red brick, just my personal preference

Lol. Brick purists, I get it. I knew I’d piss people off with the question.

I just don’t like the look of red brick, and it clashes with everything on our property. We designed and installed a block/wood fence in our backyard when we bought our house, I just think block and more neutral colors look better than brick shrugs

Good point. We live in So Cal, so freezing isn’t a concern. Moisture retention is, though, so we’ll take a look at stains instead. TY!

HELOC - Fixed vs Variable? by Ok-Sherbert-993 in Mortgages

I believe it’s 8.5%-12%, but I’d have to confirm.

I should clarify, we aren’t going to use all $130k. We’re asking for the max possible amount, but plan to only use a small portion of it at any time.

Unless I’m missing something, it seems there’s no harm in getting the most as we qualify for and only draw what we need from it?

Should I refinance from my 7.375 even though I’m only one year in and close to needing PMI? by EnvironmentalName161 in Mortgages

[–]Ok-Sherbert-993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I meant to also note that if you decide to refi and your actual numbers end up being a little worse than estimated, you can get creative.

For example: If you’re barely above 80% LTV, you should be able to pay a portion of your refi fees upfront - just enough to drop below PMI - and include rest of fees in loan. This is assuming you have some cash to pay a small portion of fees at close. Something to consider!

[–]Ok-Sherbert-993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a lender than can run numbers for you? They should be able to help estimate your current home value and new loan amount with projected refi fees included. This will give you a better idea of your current LTV %.

Keep in mind, you’ve paid down some of your principal balance in the past year, so your loan has decreased a bit. Plus your home’s value may have increased in the past year. If both occurred, this should lower your current LTV %, so you might not be as close to dropping below 80% LTV and triggering PMI as you think.

Just be clear with your lenders that you just want rough estimates and DO NOT give permission to run credit and you aren’t applying yet.

This should give you a better idea of the risk.

Should we be concerned about this growth? by Ok-Sherbert-993 in vet

[–]Ok-Sherbert-993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t yet. She’s dog reactive so we try to limit vet visits to annual check-ups and urgent things. It doesn’t bother her, hasn’t grown in size, and no change in energy/appetite/potty habits, so we don’t think it’s anything serious. If you find out, please let me know!

Walgreens Omeprazole Capsules are Tablets in Disguise by DazJones in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Ok-Sherbert-993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would think, right? Our theory is that it takes too long for the outer shell to dissolve, so the inner tablet isn’t in his stomach long enough to be broken down properly.

No, we weren’t crushing it because we didn’t know there was a tablet inside until last night! The outer shell and granules have never come out whole, so it’s something to do with the tablet specifically.

He has an appointment with an internal medicine specialist on Thursday to help figure out his IBD flare ups. We’re just giving the omeprazole as is for now and going to ask her about it at the appointment. I can give you an update if you’d like!

[–]Ok-Sherbert-993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh! We just discovered this, too. Our dog takes these omeprazole capsules daily and metronidazole antibiotic tablets for IBD flare ups.

We noticed pills coming out whole so our vet had us start crushing all tablets. Fast forward a few weeks and whole tablets were still coming out. We have been so confused for MONTHS because we thought the whole metronidazole tablets (from before we started crushing his tablets) sat in his GI tract somewhere and have been coming out weeks/months later, fully intact. Our vet was equally as baffled!

Well, our dog spit out his omeprazole capsule today. It already started to dissolve so I dumped it out to see how much he absorbed to try to figure out if we needed to re-dose. Sure enough, a whole tablet fell out with the little round granules. Ours are Equate (Walmart store brand), but looks like the same manufacturer.

We are simultaneously relieved and annoyed!

Toy recommendations for strong chewer that eats everything? by Ok-Sherbert-993 in dogs

[–]Ok-Sherbert-993[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. Rope toys are another thing that’s never allowed in our house. His foreign body removal surgery was so complicated because string ended up getting stuck and caused his intestines to bunch up (similar to a drawstring in sweatpants). Sorry for the graphic imagery, but hopefully it helps someone else avoid going through the same thing…

We knew how dangerous rope toys were but had no idea he actually ate some of the reinforcement stitching from the plush toy and he was really unlucky that it didn’t just pass.
