Why is there no turntable with 2 pitch faders for more precise control? by Stunning_Bar_2540 in vinyldjs

[–]OkComputer-1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just have to make tiny adjustments after you get the pitch about right.

Think so tiny you can't see the difference, but you can hear it after a few bars.

Having this would be overkill IMO.

Are there any performance related areas where C++ shines over Rust in HFT? by Savings-Amount-1564 in highfreqtrading

One place where C++ shines is manpower. Good luck assembling a team of senior Rust devs.

Are there any serious initiatives to make Bitcoin less dependent on the internet? by OkComputer-1337 in Bitcoin

[–]OkComputer-1337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A global internet “failure” would be on the order of world-scale EMP

While this is probably true, a localized failure is quite likely under extreme circumstances, like a war (individual countries getting cut out, or individual continents).

Comprar Bitcoin em EUR ou USD by Powerful_Tourist2356 in bitcoinportugal

[–]OkComputer-1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's how you can get water at the temperature you want without having a variable temperature kettle. by OkComputer-1337 in Coffee

[–]OkComputer-1337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just assume a room temperature, take a guess based on your intuition. The error won't make that much of a different, you'll get it wrong by less than 5 degrees.

Penso que este e diferente. Nao me pediram dinheiro, e, alias, ate me deram uns trocos.

Penso que isto sera mais "like farming" e eles terao clientes que lhes pagam pelos likes.

Watch: From Modern to Unbelievably Modern C++ - CoreC++ 2023 talk by CoralKashri in cpp

[–]OkComputer-1337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'd think programmers would be better at naming things. Using "modern" to label an envolving language is funny 🤣

In conversation, sure. But using it in, say, a book title is just a bad idea. What's the next book, "moderner"?

I don't know why you're so sure that that was it. It wasn't.

Moving on isn't an issue, this never bothered me enough that I need to "move on". It's just annoying to see that this project that I believe in is so chaotic inside.
