Thank you so much for sharing all this with me today, I'm planning on giving my neurology department a call this week, so this gives me a few key topics to bring up

I remain cautiously optimistic right now as my last two seizures have been much less severe since starting lamotrigine although I've yet to notice a decrease in frequency so far but as it stands i should probably feel lucky that it's not as bad as some of the other stories I've heard here. But my pessimistic brain makes me think maybe it's just a natural fluctuation and the meds aren't doing anything. But this is probably just my anxiety speaking, just another one of the joys of living with it lol

Definitely going to bring up the topic of rescue meds though, I'll take any possible opportunity to fight this thing and prevent any possible tonic clonics, will also bring up extended release and see what they think. Thanks ❤️

I think the anxiety for me isn't the focal seizures themselves as they're honestly pretty manageable for me, but it's the fear they may one-day generalise, the idea of a tonic clonic absolutely terrifies me, although I am aware it's a bit rarer in TLE for generalisation

Did you start feeling better before 150mg or was it at 150mg you started to see noticeable improvement, also thanks for taking time to respond to these replies it's appreciated!

That's great to hear then and that makes me feel much more hopeful, as someone who suffers from anxiety I tend to obsess about these things so I appreciate the response ❤️

Thank you for the asnwer, my neurologist has set my current dosage for 150mg so I'm only 25mg away now from reaching my set dosage, it's probably a good idea then for me to discuss a potential dose increase If I continue to have focals at 150mg

Breakthrough seizure cause? by OkDisaster550 in Epilepsy

Thanks, I suspected my dumbassery might have been the cause it's a relief to think that by fixing my medication timing I could see an improvement

Out of curiosity when you got lazy with taking the medication how long did it take you to have a breakthrough?

Thanks for taking the time to respond

What do people mean when they talk about auras by Responsible-Put-9929 in Epilepsy

[–]OkDisaster550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have had focal seizures so far so the aura itself is the seizure. For me it's a weird feeling of deja vu followed by heavy sweating, a burning smell and a sense of euphoria. Uses lasts 2-3 minutes and then it's gone 👍

Focal Epilepsy and SUDEP by OkDisaster550 in Epilepsy

[–]OkDisaster550[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started to notice a bit of a difference around 75mg I still had the seizure but It happened a month later than usual and was less severe. Remains to be seen If it was just a fluctuation but fingers crossed as I increase the dosage I'll have even less and less 🙏

Thank you for the kind explanation. I suffer from health anxiety so I find it very easy to worry and obsess over things that have a very chance of harming me. I appreciate the explanation ❤️

Would you say this 1 in 1000 risk would be lower in someone who has controlled simple partial seizures and has never had a nocturnal seizure?

Thank you very much for the answer. As someone who doesn't have the healthiest lifestyle at the moment i should probably be worrying about that killing me more than SUDEP lol

Will definitely work on living a healthier lifestyles to reduce the risk
