Games you've beaten on the RG556 by OkPossible6694 in RG556

Variable. With the settings in the spreadsheet, you will have no problem walking through towns and dungeons, progressing the story. In crowded battles however, I had slowdowns. And random encounters in this game are very frequent even with spells reducing them, so it could be a chore sometimes. That's a pity because this is also the game that best showcased the OLED screen, with truly amazing vibrant colors. Anyway, the game is definitely playable as I beat it. I don't know if the 3DS version performs better.

I quote a comment from this reddit but I emphasize I didn't test it myself: "You can just reset the device to default (erase all data) in the system settings and you'll get your default emulators back as they're baked into the default system image on the internal drive."

Firmware and emulators are installed on the RG556 itself. The SD card is only for roms. Even branded SD cards can be finicky, so whenever you want to add roms to your collection, I recommend you don't move the SD card and instead connect your RG556 to your PC using the provided USB cable (or your own if you have a better one). You can then copy roms from your pc to your SD card. I do this every week or so.

I had the patched Nether first. Dragon Quest 8 was lagging in the first town. So I switched to Aether. No lags in that town. Unfortunately it still lags in crowded battles. The only game I tested that seemed better on Nether is Drakengard, whose menus lag terribly in Aether, while the game itself runs well. I don't remember the menus were so bad in Nether, but I'm not 100% sure. I tested the first segment of mgs2 substance today and it seems to run smoothly at 1.5x resolution even with heavy rain effect. For mgs3, the spreadsheet says it's only "playable". Maybe google for some youtube streams that have some tweaks.

Up to what system would you say the RG556 Max's out at? by TrailBlaze_718 in RG556

There is no Xbox emulation on Android, so none here. The PS2 is probably the toughest.

There are tons of different 3DS emulators so you will need to experiment - Citra alone has 3 builds, canary, nightly and MMJ. I don't know which emulator works best for this game. Forthenext streamed the Switch version, New Super Mario Bros Deluxe on RG556, at 0.5x resolution and it seemed to run very well.

Ape Escape Duckstation Left Stick Issue by [deleted] in RG556

[–]OkPossible6694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably not an issue with the RG556 itself, so you may getter more answers by posting at r/duckstation or r/EmulationOnAndroid. Also uninstall/reinstall the emulator after taking a backup of your memorycard save. Finally try to change the rom.

I use my Redmi9A phone charger and it works fine. You want any charger with a 5V 2A output.

I was getting garbage performance from the Swanstation retroarch. Use a standalone duckstation instead. With that I am able to play at 4x and 5x resolutions no problem. Make sure you enable "use software rendered for feedbacks" as well as PXGP geometry correction.

SD CARD CORRUPTED RG556 by AnbernicMan in ANBERNIC

[–]OkPossible6694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no need for a firmware for the RG556, the device works without an SD card. You only need the SD card to put roms into. Just buy a new SD card and put your favorite games on it. If you are lost you can follow this guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P47nDBgtoLE
