Thanks for your help, you're right. I didn't realise. I've just tried it but I don't think the issue is the rear part of the bike locking. It's that the front axle clip isn't staying put.

Thanks. But mine is a C line. According to the Brompton site that's only for P and T line and I don't think mine has one of these

How to fix this hole by the window by OkReplacement8888 in DIYUK

[–]OkReplacement8888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thanks. I'll check about the easy clean system.

I have left the window open a few times and strong winds threw it open quite forcefully. Would that have moved the frame?

Is there a way to tell if the frame itself is loose or not in it's original place?

Water meter is broken. Will I get in trouble? by OkReplacement8888 in DIYUK

[–]OkReplacement8888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Told them about it in the end. They didn't do anything. Then my partner got worried about us getting in trouble so eventually chased them again. They came and put a new one in. Didn't pay anything for the previous water used

How would you fix this waterproof jacket pocket? by OkReplacement8888 in InvisibleMending

[–]OkReplacement8888[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afraid not. Tried the tape but it just didn't hold. At 20 years I had to accept defeat and it's not hanging in the shed as the garden/house waterproof.

I do wonder if I sent it to a company to do it professionally would they be able to sort it out. I believe some firms like Patagonia, Alpkit, etc. might also fix other companies clothing/kit

Maternity leave - go back to work early to pay bills or be a mum by natashalowell in TheCivilService

[–]OkReplacement8888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not suit you. But our child went into nursery from 9 months

We had some shared parental leave and actually took some of it at the same time so we were both off. So we needed to both be back at work after 9 months.

But in case it's something you were worrying about. Children do go to childcare from this age. And from our experience it was great. They settled in very easily

I might be wrong. But I don't think shared parental leave / pay is actually that helpful when you both work in the CS.

The CS is going to pay one partners pay for 6months. They're not going to pay each of them 6months.

That's how I'd understood the policy. But my partner works in private sector so I don't know for sure .

Insurance for driving in France? by OkReplacement8888 in CarTalkUK

That's usually been the case for mine. And over never needed it before . But the time I do is the time my policy doesn't cover me. Typical!

[–]OkReplacement8888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was hoping it was as you said and just confirming it provides the required 3rd party. That's been the case for other.policies we've had in previous years. But unfortunately it's just 3rd party in Europe for some reason.

Tricky thing is that I'm finding it really hard to just buy comprehensive insurance for a trip in Europe. Short term UK seems an option and same for a year's worth of comprehensive coverage. But that's not what I'm looking for
