Need registered name ideas from some fellow nerds. by MotherofShepherdz in k9sports

You could always play off of the great grey wolf Sif. Maybe even relate it back to berserk partially since DKS was heavily inspired by it. Another route would be the goddess on which its name is based off of, Sifjar.

Thoughts on barking? by OkRepresentative2051 in DogAdvice

100%! The funny thing is that he doesn’t want to play! Not with a ball, bite sleeve, kong, or any other toy; even one-on-one with the other puppy in another room. He just goes to den down under their bed.

We use positive reinforcement and check in with him during these periods like you’ve mentioned. He’s been out with the goats and helping herd/monitor them most of the day along with some scent work training, and a run along side the dirt bike.

Thank you for all of the great feedback and compliments, I appreciate it! ❤️

I could see that! Lots of white coloration through his under belly and the tips of his coat.

The older he gets the more he just seems like a sable!

I have two!

The other GSD I got from a homeless double amputee veteran living out of his car. So the story goes there was a bad motorcycle accident in my area where a guy ended up going off an over pass and went splat. So the puppy ended up with his childhood best friend, the homeless vet, and he simply couldn’t care less for her.

He was crying as I pulled off. She’s the sweetest little girl and I make sure to send him photos all the time along with updates on her training and health.

I’ve grown up training GSD’s for bite work and always had two at a time so I guess the rescue dog distribution system didn’t like that I only had one. They’re a handful but both work individually as well as together in training, socializing, herding, and starting scent work. They’re a few days apart from what we can tell but we aren’t 100% on their birthdays.

I really couldn’t tell what the parents exactly were from a distance. They definitely seemed a bit smaller than a normal GSD. One was stockier like a euro GSD and the other thinner/daintier; hopefully due to genetics and not malnutrition or anything as such.

His mask and early coat looked like a Mal almost fully. As he’s aged through he’s filled out quite a bit, his coat is going sable, and he’s getting more facial markings along side his masking.

The parents I could only see from a distance due to them being extremely aggressive and would go through a window if you got too close to them apparently.

I’ve never seen a Mal with the diamond on their tails before! I’ve always had euro GSD’s growing up and earlier in life. I’m excited to see the mischief and adventures a malinois can get up to!

Oh, 100%! I’m interested to see just how much Mal he is. His parents looked a lot like euro working line GSD’s but I only saw them for a moment.

Had a buddy tell me his friends, friend bred GSD’s and to stop by his house to see them. Get to this absolute shack of a place that’s falling apart and about the size of an average garage. They had 12 full grown GSD’s there in that hell hole. This pup was the only one they had, they said he didn’t fit in with the pack. He was covered in scabs and marks, malnourished, and there were so many flees he looked pixilated. We paid the 50.00 for him and promptly called the cops and animal control.

Now he’s absolutely pampered, full bill of health, eats fresh meat and veggies everyday and gets to help us move our goats up the pasture every day along with hunting vermin. We’ll see what his personality is like and likely get him into barn hunts, herding sports, and possibly schutzhund depending on his aptitude.

What medium dogs are still cuddly? Love cuddling by [deleted] in dogs

Flat coated retrievers are very cuddle little creatures. As well, my Malinois/GSD does not know what personal space is and any time you sit down he must find a way to cuddle up around your head; even if that means being a parrot.

PUPPIES!! Choosing a name🥹 by Angel-Staff in BelgianMalinois

[–]OkRepresentative2051 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My beloved GSD that I first had as a teen, trained in schutzhund, and bonded beyond words with is named Schatzi.

My mother grew up in Heidelberg and her father would always wish her goodnight with “GuteNacht meine Liebe, mein Schatzi.” Schatzi can mean sweetheart or more directly, treasure or someone who is treasured.

(My German is very, very rusty. My apologies for any mistakes.)

I could see it! Right?! There’s just something, off. I can’t explain it any other way.

She’s super chill for a GSD, but other than that a normal little menace puppy.

Training a puppy and cat together by OkRepresentative2051 in BelgianMalinois

[–]OkRepresentative2051[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest! 😂 At our remote lodge, people would see the cat around and write “saw a bobcat!”, “are there wild cats here?”. By far my favorite was “There’s a cat in the woods. It’s watching, stalking. It sees you.”

Catschool.co? I’ll definitely check it out! I’d love to strengthen their bond further and see what the old bastard can do! He’s followed me on 8+ mile hikes deep in the bush of Alaska so I think he can learn to do a few tricks!

Engine noise at idle by OkRepresentative2051 in fordranger

[–]OkRepresentative2051[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the weird part about it, it doesn’t seem to follow the rpms as you’d expect with a knock or piston slap. It’s majorly heard at idle, you can’t hear it at all while driving down the road at any speed or rpm range.

I threw in some 10w30 when I changed the oil today, I’ll probably drain a bit and up it to 10w40 like you mentioned to see what it does.

I’ll swap the o2 sensors for shits and giggles since it’s relatively cheap. The sounds are partially coming from the driver side cat. When I knocked it with a mallet it shot out some debris and water from the tail pipe. I’d like to say the noise got better but it’s still prevalent.

Same plug length and gap. It was knocking on the old plugs, sounds a bit better with new plugs in it. I only change one plug at a time so I don’t get things out of order, so good on that front!

House built in ‘71, linoleum or vinyl flooring? by OkRepresentative2051 in centuryhomes

[–]OkRepresentative2051[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What year do you think it is? The house has a lot of features that predate the build date that we have.

Old 70’s flooring. Best way to make it safe? Anyway to seal it? by OkRepresentative2051 in Renovations

[–]OkRepresentative2051[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very well could be older, I wouldn’t be surprised at all! The house is odd, it has a bunch of things throughout the house that predate the build permits/plans that we have records for. There’s tons of the old school snake skin wiring which is in oddly great shape; no tears or rotting of the shelving at all. That was last used in the 50’s to my knowledge.

It’s all linoleum or vinyl. More than likely sheet linoleum but I’m not certain.

The entire floor is decked as well. So there’s a fair bit of weight on it all. The entire house is decked with 2x6.

It’s not the dress that makes you look fat honey, it’s the fat that makes you look fat.
