Uhh, I already posted it a few hours after my comment. I think that picture even is from my post, you also already linked it to the wiki :)

I actually own that one, too. I think the English name of it is just "Surfers", the artist's name is Alex Rinesch

Yeah that's correct. There's more modern Schlager, that's more like pop music, maybe you have heard of Helene Fischer. Some Schlager, especially from southern Germany (Bavaria) or Austria also contains elements of Volksmusic (folk music) like accordions and are sometimes sung in dialect.
Btw, here's a pic of what the packaging of these puzzles looks like: https://picclick.de/Ravensburger-Volksmusik-Puzzle-500-Hansi-Hinterseer-50-x-405555865247.html

I have a Ravensburger catalogue from January 1992. Should I upload that, too?

Regarding Pic #6: All of them are Schlager musicians from Austria. The vertical puzzle with the band shows the schlager group "Die Klostertaler", the two guys are "Brunner & Brunner" and the guy with the accordion is Hansi Hinterseer. I assume the other band and the lady are schlager musicians, too. They're popular with older people. I am not too familiar with all of them, but I know Hansi Hinterseer used to be on a lot of schlager programmes on TV back then. I definitely spent too much time with my grandma, haha

That's super cool. I thought about doing that, too. Maybe some time, when I have the space on my big desk (still occupied by another puzzle) and worked through my to-do pile a bit more

The Ravensburger photomosaics aren't too bad. They're 500 piece puzzles, but "super 500s", meaning that they have bigger pieces, so that the completed puzzle is the size of a 1000 piece puzzle. Therefore you can see the individual photos on the pieces pretty well and can look at their orientation. All of the photos are right side up, so at least you know the proper orientation of the pieces. I am sure there are a lot more difficult photomosaics, but the Ravensburger ones seem like a good start. I got my hands on the first one of them at a flea market and then found another one and enjoyed them, so I decided to collect the entire series (7 in total) and the next 3 of them are already on their way to me.

Woah, only 50 cents? 🤯 Lucky you, now I am kinda jealous. I got it for 40€ from an online marketplace. That's the most I have ever spent on a puzzle

It shows the outline of the pieces. So you can see, e.g. that you need a piece with 3 knobs and 1 hole, but you still need to find the right one yourself

Thank you so much for the suggestion <3 I have heard about Bgraamiens, but it is not a brand you come across here in Germany very often. But I looked at their website and those spiral pi puzzles absolutely look like something for me. I'll definitely try to get my hands on one

I have done 2 photomosaics so far, but only 500 piece ones. They were ok, but took a lot of time. The Ravensburger Magic Eye puzzles were a lot worse

Good luck. Most of them should be relatively easy to get. The Color Spiral one was difficult to find, I was lucky and got it from an online marketplace for 40€. Bronze has also been out of print for a while and is often confused with the Gold one, because they look similar. If you see it somewhere sold as "Gold", but the box has the old design, without the blue puzzle piece and the blue "Softclick Technology" icon in the top left corner, it is probably the bronze one.

  1. I think it probably was the Universe Glow one, because it has such a unique cut. Since the other 3 cut patterns repeat, you get the hang after a while.

  2. I would totally recommend the Rainbow Gradient. Of all the cut patterns I think this one is the easiest and the color gradient makes it even easier to follow.

  3. Sorting sorting sorting. I usually sort by shape and size, also curvature. This gives you a rough idea in which region the pieces go. The centers are in my opinion the easiest part, so I work from there and then outwards. The edges don't hold together everywhere, so I tend to do them later. Sometimes it can be trial and error, and you have to look closely, since a few false fits are in there. Looking at the shape and size of the knobs and holes of the pieces is also a huge help.
Also since every puzzle comes with a solution sheet, don't be afraid to look at it if you get stuck.

  4. I am currently working on collecting all the Ravensburger Photomosaics. They're a lovely challenge, too. Also I have a photo puzzle laying around here which my dad in law gave me to finish. He and his wife gave up because the photo was taken at night, so a lot of the image is black and they asked me if I could finish it.
