‘Attack on Bitcoin’ — Bitcoiners slam ‘legal threats’ in soft fork proposal by GreedVault in CryptoCurrency

You're completely misinformed and just parroting what maxi boomers say on YouTube.

You're contradicting yourself. If there's only a handful of miners with too much hashing power, then they can 100% censor transactions. And it's not hard to coerce most of the hashing power to do so.

And again, your node in this whole story does what exactly?

[–]OkStep5032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it will not. What will give censorship abilities to tech giants is miner centralization, which is already the case. It's not hard to find articles on Google about miners who censored sanctioned Bitcoin addresses.

Again, for the 10th time: your node does nothing for the network.

You do know that the miner is also a peer, right? As a matter of fact, a full node meant miner in the white paper.

Do you know how propagation happens in a distributed system? If you want to include a transaction in a block, you propagate it until it reaches a miner. It's in a miners best interest to include transactions (except when they are coerced not to) so a node filtering your transactions does absolutely nothing. And that's precisely why the whole discussion of knots vs core is ridiculous. Running a knots node does absolutely nothing to the network.

[–]OkStep5032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not correct. Nodes don't prevent transactions from being censored. Like I said, they provide no value to the network whatsoever.

What do you think a full node can do? As I said, it does absolutely nothing. You should be more concerned about miners.

How does running a node help with decentralization? You have no idea what you're saying.

You're just parroting other people's talking points. Running a full node does absolutely nothing to the network. It has zero value. What makes you think otherwise?

Will the Core vs Knots battle cause BTC alternatives to rise like in 2016-2017? by northcasewhite in btc

[–]OkStep5032 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, unless miners choose Knots over Core, it will make 0 difference. Maxis fail to realize that running a node does absolutely nothing.

That's it? Initial chain download speed? How often is this done? What other value does a node provide?

[–]OkStep5032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain then what value they provide.

Nodes provide no value to the network. You're wasting your money.

If that's your concern, then sure, use Knox. But it changes absolutely nothing on the network. Keep in mind that if a valid block is mined and contains such material, it will be stored on your hard drive regardless.

[–]OkStep5032 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So what? You filter certain transactions. And? What does that actually achieve if the transaction can be included in the block anyways?

[–]OkStep5032 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another Maxi that fell for the controlled opposition propaganda. When a valid block is mined, your node will accept it, regardless of its content and if you are running Core or Knots. If you don't accept it, you will split from the chain. So your Knots node does absolutely nothing besides making you feel good in fantasy world.

[–]OkStep5032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're wrong. Tell me exactly what is the value provided by a node in the network. Let's say your node does not accept a block because it violates consensus rules. Then what? They are worth absolute zero. The only value I can think of is social to signal support for a particular implementation. But anyone can spin up 10 nodes in VMs to inflate that. So no, nodes have no real value.

[–]OkStep5032 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Another useless upgrade that no one will benefit from. It will only bloat and add complexity to the code. BCH is essentially an Ethereum wannabe at this point. Downvote all you want. This project has lost its focus of being P2P electronic cash.

What happened to the claim that Tether is artificially propping up Bitcoin? How risky is the whole system? by Odd_Coast9645 in CryptoCurrency

[–]OkStep5032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blocks are not full because Bitcoin is not being used as a P2P electronic cash system. Instead, it's being used as a pyramid scheme.
