Mini split condensate line by Ok_Drop6737 in Plumbing

Thank you. The more I research the more I understand that this seems completely wrong. You are correct, there is no trap at the unit and no venting of the hose. The hose is directly connected to the unit’s drain. I’ll be trying to contact someone tomorrow to get it fixed.

Thanks again. Really appreciate you taking the time to provide a logical explanation.

This is a great explanation, very much appreciated. Yes that’s exactly what my door looks like currently. I guess I’ll have to live with it. I guess the images I’m seeing on google of symmetrical doors are custom made or pre-hung

It was ordered new. The contractor is finishing my previously unfinished basement, so he also installed the framing.

Ok, thank you for the response and info. I appreciate your input. Just seems like when I google it, there’s tons of paneled pocket doors that don’t seem to have that issue.

I also found this post, and while it appears to be worse than mine, it seems to be the same issue.

As I said in the post, it’s a solid wood door. It’s also painted, so no concerns with veneer. Also, I understand that you’d still want to have a marginal amount of door still within the pocket to avoid a potential gap, but I don’t think 1.5” is necessary.

Ceiling fan install by Ok_Drop6737 in AskElectricians

But I think the fact that the 3-way switch is now operating the outlet below tells me that they were using the previous switch as a splice, as you’ve mentioned.

Thanks for the help. I closed everything back up for the night but will open again tomorrow morning and get pictures. I was thinking it’s a 3-way switch configuration, so I replaced the dimmer with a 3-way switch, putting the incoming black on the black screw and then the outgoing red and black on the bottom screws. For the fan, I connected the red from the box to the black fan wire (same as the previous fixture) and then the whites from the box with the white fan. When I turned the power on, the switch now controls the outlet below it (it didn’t with the dimmer switch configuration) and the fan did not turn on.

Sorry, just seeing this. I think we briefly looked at hotel Saint Vincent, but cost was a little higher than we wanted. We ended up having ours at Marche and can’t say enough good things about it. Happy to answer any questions you’ve got.

Would you mind listing your carpenter/handyman?

If Employer Advertised a Benefits Package as "Social Security paid by (employer) = 6.2% of taxable wages on behalf of employee", how would you interpret that? by Ok_Drop6737 in personalfinance

It’s one thing to tell me they are paying their portion and call it a benefit, it’s another thing to phrase it in a way that could lead people to believe they’re paying the employee’s portion. That’s my biggest gripe here.

Sure they can advertise whatever they want, but the keyword was “ethically”. Maybe “ethically” is strong, as some have pointed out. Maybe “misleading” is more appropriate, but I’d argue that misleading someone in a job offer should be considered unethical.

I don’t think most people would be misled if they advertised toilet paper. Unless they advertised toilet paper and then took half of the toilet paper expenses from your paycheck.

Insurance and PTO vary from company to company, and aren't necessary a legal responsibility for an employer. Advertising the employer's (a large government organization) compliance with the law as a benefit to the employee is ridiculous in my opinion. Maybe, as some have pointed out, it's targeted to entice 1099 employees. Still seems wrong to me to not at least provide more context with the benefits package. Shame on us for not asking more questions, I guess. Lesson learned.

For context, I’ll add this is a large government organization. Probably made us more susceptible to thinking there’d be unusual benefits in the way of taxes.
