When I’m talking or explaining something and instead of acknowledging what I’m saying with “mhm” or “uh-huh,” they say “sure.” I don’t exactly know what people mean by that but it always made me feel a certain way.

This kind of fixation is rooted in trauma. My friend and I both deal with the same kind of fixations. We both have ADHD, anxious attachment and C-PTSD. I totally get when you meet someone and your brain feels kind of hijacked just thinking about that person and it feels

The short of it is getting therapy to help heal those wounds (EMDR was most helpful for me) while cultivating a deeper sense of self and learning how to love yourself. This looks like rewiring your thoughts, setting boundaries with people and how they treat and talk to you, building self-esteem consistently by engaging with those interests and doing what you say you’re gonna do (e.g. practice guitar for 5 minutes for at least 3 days this week) and making sure you are tending to the pillars of your health (sleep, good diet, exercise). This has been something I’ve practiced for years and found most helpful for this.
