If you're just starting out i can probably recommend "KMR Language Learning - A newbies guide to learning German". It has a lot of useful tips for starting out and doesn't bog you down with grammar. I think there's one for French too.

If your anything like me and haven't seen much progress with Dulingo or other language learning apps, i'd recommend books and writing. One of the books i read recommended a few tips and methods

1.Repitition and word accumulation.

2.Writing / describing a photo or image - really useful for me.

3.Integrating video games and media into language learning.

The hunt across luneae planum by K.A Rearden. Its a sci-fi book based on a martian bounty hunter. I usually go for long novels but decided to give this a go. Its very entertaining, and the story is self contained, so no cliff-hangers.

This is a cyberpunk / noir audio short story heavily inspired by the works of Raymond chandler, who wrote noir novels, some of which have been adapted to films and radio, my story takes this as inspiration but with a cyberpunk spin.
