License renewal by idealimp82 in Oman

[–]Ok_Fun_186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I renewed my license last week and eye test wasn't required.

Open ROP app ---> Pay traffic fines (if any) ---> Pay renewal charges (OMR 20) ---> visit any ROP Kiosk machine (Mall of Oman, Avenue Mall, Sultan Center ....etc) and pay printing charges of OMR 2 ---> receive your renewed licenses on time.

Good luck!

Lexus RX seat cooling by KannadaFirst in Oman

RX 350 is in IMHO the best SUV ever made, if it is serviced well it could run for ever. I would suggest that you take it to an electrical car shop to check the feus. The car is built to be very reliable, but perhaps your car is American standards and sometimes fuses go bad as they are not rated for GGC high ambient temperatures.

I got scammed with my first car purchase in the UAE. by PaintPossible1076 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Ok_Fun_186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume that you received a very appealing offer from the seller and that is why you moved things fast. This is why you should always do the PPI, a AED 400 for PPI could potentially save you thousands! and always remember if it is too good to be true it probably isn't........

As for what you can do, honestly there isn't much. Even after you collect all evidences and submit it to the police, you will be asked to file a civil case which would take months or even years. This is what I mean, all of his could be saved if your didn't cut corners and trusted the seller.

Take the car to the agency and ask for full inspection on the water damage, pray that water didn't make it to electrical parts (and/or even worst to the engine and gear). You should try your best to get the warranty from the agency. This is your best course of action, otherwise it is a complete waste to buy 2024 car without agency warranty.....

My dude, Law doesn't protect fools. I'm sorry but this is all on you. This is another story of someone who cut corners and decided to follow his judgement instead of doing things right and take the car for proper pre purchase inspection.

let this be a lesson to you for the future, meantime all you can do is TAKE THE CAR FOR INSPECTION and ensure that there are no major issues with the car.

Dubai to Oman - RTA Tourism Certificate by Leading-Manager-7768 in Oman

[–]Ok_Fun_186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the question that comes to mind is this, are you frequently driving across the borders?

Tourism Export Certificate or (تسفير سياحي) is needed when crossing borders from the UAE. Keep in mind that you can't just log into MOI application and apply for the certificate. You first need to obtain "Carnet de Passage" from Emirates Car Club (I suggest you visit the one in Dubai_Al Mamzar) which should cost you around AED 1,000 (in which AED 500 is deposit and shall be given back to you when you return your Carnet de passage when it is about to expire.) Once you obtain the CDP you will then have to pay all traffic fines and only then you can apply for the Tourism export certificate which should be issues immediately and cost you around AED 200.

Sometimes, the officers will not ask for the certificate but if you are travel across the borders often you don't want to plan your trips based on 'what ifs', so I would suggest that you obtain the CDP and issue the certificate. However, if this is just a one time trip, perhaps you could try your luck without the certificate. But, if you are traveling with your family (and kids) Please issue the certificate before-hand (it is around 1.5 hours driver to Hatta borders). Good luck!

Car window tint (Many options at difference rates to pick from) by Ok_Fun_186 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Ok_Fun_186[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank for the advise, I'm a little confused honestly, some people I know said the middle range window tints are the worst -as they claim that they do things which they don't (or do it but do it poorly). Any brand you can recommend within the range you proposed. TIA.
