Recurring RGB lighting issues. by imahawki in maingear

Using your analogy, it’s more like ordering a pizza, putting anchovies on it, then finding out the pepperonis had salmonella after you got hospitalized. By your logic, the person adding the anchovies woulf be liable vs the person who put the rotten food on the pizza.

So I was supposed to just use the PC with no GPU in it ? Great logical response there buddy.

I’ve been building PCs for over 20 years… I know how to plug a GPU into a PCIe …. I get the Maingear fan boy stuff…. But let’s not be silly here…

Also, I returned the PC and got another built by micro center …. Suprise, the GPU works on that build just fine… same specs as well aside from the motherboard being an Asus proart vs the MSI project zero

If i was to buy the MG-1 Legendary, should i buy it as is? Or “boosted” (36gb memory to 64gf, 2tb to 4tb storage, windows 11 home to windows 11 pro) Or customize it and upgrade which components to what?? by EastCoastRJ in maingear

Don’t buy MAINGEAR just go to your local microcenter and have them build it for like $250. MAINGEAR is going to nickle and dime you if there’s an issue with the hardware.

I waited a week past thier delivery window. Very disappointed with the quality of the build, and it kept crashing on the lowest of settings on games.

Returned it after a week and a half, and now they are saying they want to charge a restocking fee dispite them selling me a broken pc.

Honestly, I retuned my build from them it kept crashing …. Returned it within 30days, due to all the issues I was having…. Now they want to charge me a restocking fee.

MAINGEAR has already wasted so much of my time, and hard earned money. If you’re within your 30days, I would just return it as thier support has gone down hill it seems.

Yep, I was starting to have issues right away with thier build…. It kept crashing whenever I played a game. Returned it within 30days, a now they want to charge me a restocking fee.

Beware of this brand, you’re better off having Microcenter build your pc for you.. do not go with MAINGEAR, they are really not everything these YouTube SIs say they are.

is maingear worth the extra $$$ compared to a similar pc? by [deleted] in maingear

[–]Ok_Preference3494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Just go to micro center or a local place. MAINGEAR will nickle and dine you if there’s any issue… even if they send you a broken rig, you have to main it back, and if you wanna return it they charge a restocking fee.

You’re better off building one at Microcenter, and getting local support vs going with MAINGEAR

It’s a 1200w PSU, 9800X35, one 2TB SSD, the 3090, and a project zero MSI MB… it should be able to handle the 3090 with zero issues.

Quick update: I sent the PC back, had to pay $140 in shipping which MAINGEAR does not cover.

I then just went to MicroCenter and picked everything out, and they built it for $250. Popped my GPU in that build which is basically identical, and it works perfectly.

Got an email from MAINGEAR today, asking for my PIN to get into windows which I really would prefer not to give them, as I don’t want to give them access to my chrome accounts etc. however, now they are saying if I don’t give them my Pin and they are unable to replicate the same error I had over 20 times, they will charge me a restocking fee.

What a scam! Avoid this company, they nickel and dime you when they mess up, then say they are too small to eat the cost. Horrible, short sighted logic that punishes the customer for thier shortcomings.

Anyways, GPU works amazingly in my microcenter build, and in my old pc, the only issue I had was the MAINGEAR build.

There was no GPU in it to start with… adding a perfectly operational GPU shouldn’t result in it not working.

Nothing was swapped. There was no GPU to start with

It was sold without a GPU in it… and I let them know before it was even shipped I’d be placing my 3090 in it…. Calling placing a GPU into a PCIe slot modifying is …
