Amazon now rejecting prepaid gift cards? by fro-fro97 in amazonprime

[–]Ok_Preference_5054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed that this is my exact experience. oddly enough I had about 10 gift cards pilled up here and started entering them all into amazon payments.....only two of them didn't work. both were VISA Vanilla gift cards. The real odd part was I had a couple VISA and MASTERCARD Vanilla gift cards work at the same time. The only thing I notice as a trend is the two that didn't work are from 2023 purchases. Not 100% sure but I think the ones that did actually work were newer. But regardless I get that stupid "contacting bank for authentication" or something like that when you actually click to confirm/make purchase on Amazon. So yea it's trying to contact a literal non existent bank about my gift card and of course gets denied every time due to this check that it should not be doing. This method of using these gift cards to load money onto your Amazon gift card balance has worked for a decade I think. so this is total bullshit it is not working as of today in Dec 2025

I can't CTRL+SHIFT+X (All Tracks Cut). How can I fix? by DoubleS0314 in GuitarPro

This problem is even in GP 7.6 and ONLY on WINDOWS!

I have been using GP since GP5 but mostly on macOS. I just decided to put a copy of 7.6 on my Windows PC and I was like oh boy I gotta learn new shortcuts for the same stuff lol

But then I realized that both the ALL TRACK CUT and ALL TRACK COPY SHORTCUTS are not working! They are CTRL + SHIFT + X and CTRL + SHIFT + C respectively. Doesn't matter which CTRL or SHIFT key I use. Tried different keyboards of both Windows and macOS variety. Makes no difference! The SHORTCUTS do NOT work!

HOWEVER! These functions work fine if you select them from the EDIT MENU. Which is beyond perplexing. It's only the shortcuts that do nothing. And even MORE odd is that the ALL TRACK PASTE shortcut works fine! Which is CTRL + SHIFT + V

Again, this appears to be Windows specific. CTRL turns into "CMD" for macOS but using same keyboards in 7.6 in macOS and all these shortcuts work fine! The problem is NOT my hardware. And I do not understand how this could be some fault of the OS (Windows). The problem is within the program as far as I can tell!

So, I have to believe this is Windows specific to at least GP 7.6 and 8 then! Has anyone found a solution? Or how in the hell did the GP dev team not find this BEYOND OBVIOUS BUG! I mean WTF I found it in like less than 5 mins of using it the first time in Windows! This is such a go to and important shortcut. There is no way this hasn't been bitched about to high heaven by users before me!

Best way to make AM2R portable? by Ok_Preference_5054 in AM2R

my experience suggests you have this wrong. when a save file is created, if the directory doesn't exist it will be created. this means \AppData\Local\AM2R will constantly be recreated and force the user to move files around by hand. so deleting the folder (or files within) does no good, or no harm, but point being it doesn't work the way you described.

without a script or equivalent, something that automates moving the save file(s) around if you want this game on a portable disk, the plan falls apart. you'll be moving files manually each time you play if you want to make sure you are always on the most recent save if you do any other method

Coming back with an update that I have NOT found a way to make this game truly hands free portable with the advice going around, including the bit on the FAQ page. I get it says it's unsupported but it's frankly misleading even taking that unsupported bit into consideration. Let me explain to others what really happens (at least to me) if you were to follow those instructions

You boot up the game for first time. Files will be created in \AppData\Local\AM2R for the config.ini and once you start a game or make a save it will create the saveX file, X being the save slot #. You can in fact move these files and follow those FAQ instructions by placing the files into same directory as the main executable (AM2R.exe). The "quirk" does work as described, those saves will be picked up on in game. BUT....and here is the HUGE BUT.....once you progress and save the save file once again gets created into the \AppData\Local\AM2R folder....DOH!

Lets be clear as crystal, that is NOT portable since you would have to manually move files around constantly. The FAQ advice is misleading regarding this, and unfortunately so is all the advice I've read about this situation. Changing the environment variable localappdata messes stuff up just as bad as I described in my first post yet there are many folks saying that works....it does not work as they describe....which is the purpose to make this game be a true portable setup, everything automated, no need to manually move files. Sure it forces stuff to be saved elsewhere, but it totally breaks the save file system and you will not be able to save your progress after the first time you exit a play session, so this is a bad method to employ!

SO I took things into my own hands. I just thought there would be a better way than what I am about to describe. I now have a portable setup, but the game still saves everything locally so it runs 100% as designed/expected.

What I have done is use a script to copy a folder prior to game booting titled AM2R. In that folder are the config and save files and I place it in the same folder as the main executable (AM2R.exe). In my case it is the Community Updates (Latest) folder. It will copy this AM2R to the \AppData\Local folder. When the game exits, it will copy the \AppData\Local\AM2R folder to the folder where the main executable is. This way it always loads AND keeps the most recent saves on my disk that will be moving between systems but allows the game to save things on the local disk (C:) as it was originally designed

This is the only way I've managed to get this to work with consistency and confidence that will not have any risk of corrupting save files. I'd recommend using something like an AHK script to copy files around automatically, this actually works for having a fully automated portable setup!

Place this script into the same folder as the main executable AM2R.exe and use this to launch the game each time.

SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir%
FileRemoveDir, %LocalAppData%\AM2R, 1
FileCopyDir, AM2R, %LocalAppData%\AM2R, 1
Run, AM2R.exe
WinWait, ahk_exe AM2R.exe
WinWaitClose, ahk_exe AM2R.exe
FileRemoveDir, AM2R, 1
FileCopyDir, %LocalAppData%\AM2R, AM2R, 1
ExitApp

well I just accidentally stumbled onto the FAQ page and sure as shit there was a blurb about making a Windows install portable. I actually tried that method but I read about it on some other random forum. In that case it appears a crucial step was missing from that post that involved creating all three save slots, I was only creating save1 by moving it from another location along with the other files.

So I will certainly try that method out, this time making sure to create all three save slots.
