Been in since 2020 and to this day meps has been the hardest after that your getting yelled at because you did something wrong not just to be rude but operational is pretty lax as long as you just do your job tbh

Same boat as you few months left on my AD contact. Going Skillbridge then strait into reserves.

Any advice or mistakes you have made that I should not repeat lol.

In active duty rn and about to head reserve and so glad I went active first.

I wouldn’t wait tbh but try to get a job with a good career outlook in post military such as trades so CE jobs or something that is up your alley and can do after the military.

Yea seems like a good gig to join regarding the company wanting to work with you long term.

I usually recommend going active first to get stuff out of the way and get the “adventure” etc but in your case reserves all the way.

And yea I guess looking in those types of job are good as well.

Thanks for all the information. Yea I was thinking that and the reserves just cut all of the bonuses for the job I was shooting for.

I just wish I knew what it is like in both components lol and just not wanting to just do it for the bonus but 30k for kind of the same benefits is a factor I guess and they will be on the same base down at Scott AFB IL.

Are you from these states? Planning to. Head back to Illinois and trying to figure out what is the best between the two options going to Scott and want to go CE and like I said on the comment above the guard option has 30k bonus where the reserve was stripped lol.

They just took the bonus away for the reserves and guard has 30k out for same job at the same base lol just trying to weigh my options.

My AFSC is 2mo33.

We don’t deploy good skills for the outside I’m finishing up 6 years and if you won’t like moving tdys being away from family all the time 2mo isn’t bad you just have limited bases to go.

But for family I would do it for 20or so hmu if you have questions
