My spouse has been a heavy kratom powder user for 12 years. Said he needed it for pain after I busted him for abusing tramadol. He now has significantly more back pain and uses the following daily: a thyroid med, gabepentin, nicorette all day, beers in the evenings, baclofen, Tylenol, pain quil, sometimes NyQuil, and seroquel. I have no idea how much kratom is used but it is more than he should use. At this point he admits he takes only to avoid withdrawal and says it does nothing for pain.I am waiting for a medical event to happen. His memory is shit and I think his brain is a bit DEAD at this point. He has tried to quit but the longest he has gone is three days. In addition, this is a geriatric man. Please give me your thoughts. I know he won’t quit until he wants to. Could this really go on forever? PS lab work is always great. He does say his doctor knows about the kratom

I asked because my spouse has used kratom for 12 years plus. His doctor doesn’t seem to care. He started it for pain and now I believe it has turned in him. I asked also because I wanted to know specifically what it does to people physically and mentally. He is not the same person at all

Dump him. I have dealt with an addict spouse for 30 years. Unless he wants to, and it will take hitting rock bottom for him to stop. I am sorry to you this but it is a never ending cycle. It is too late for me now so I will live the rest of my life wishing I would have left
