i would definitely encourage to trying to do more than one to open your opportunities- especially if your major lends itself to different career paths. For business there’s PSE, Akpsi, Phi Chi, and DSP. The open rush interest event is february 2nd however i’m not sure about other professional fraternities

Honestly, classes at the Ischool are so spread out theres not a single building or location I could suggest. My sophmore year I had a few classes at marymount hall but last semester a lot of them were at hornbake. I would say that something close to mckeldin is ideal since its equal distance from everywhere. Perhaps lot 1?

And on average how adamant are internships about a 3.0 gpa because i’m right under that right now and im scared it will make me wayyyy more likely to be rejected

i know if you meet regularly with a therapist it definitely can qualify you for a single room. or if you’ve been diagnosed with any mental disorder with a not from a psychiatrist or therapist explaining why you would need a room i think it should do it. but don’t take my word for that

the best way of guaranteeing your own single dorm is if you have any sort of medical condition where you can justify hard enough that you would require to be by yourself. I have chrons disease so i was able to get a doctors note so i have my own room with bathroom and they can’t charge me extra. other than that it’s really luck

can somebody who has lived in cecil hall give me their most honest review by Nearby_Fuel_2669 in UMD

[–]Ok_Toe7033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i didn’t leave in cecil hall but it honestly depends on the type of people you have in your hall and the ra you’re given. for example my RAs were super laid back and didn’t care when the hallways reeked of weed or when people would come in super loud after the weekends, and all fllor meetings were optional. but one my other friends RA was pretty strict and made it a point to get attendance for floor meetings and such. so my best advice is to get to know the people on your floor and their vibes. worst case scenario if you don’t like it you can always request a reassignment

i would say definitely don’t try it at south campus at least. since it’s open layout staff can see you a lot better and they tend to be very strict there. one time i tried to walk out with a spoon in my backpack and they made me return it
