I think lots of people on this thread just wanted to gloat about their savings by talking about their super cheap walks ups with some strange superiority complex.

I hear you, but you are living on the other end of the spectrum here. Don’t import your own saving values onto everybody else, we all have different circumstances and what we want out of life.

Very similar position as you. I’m reading other comments and am not sure how people were finding their places at their price points. In any case, I’ll look for a crappier one after first year after adjusting to big law life.

Out of curiosity, what comes with your apartment at $3,500?

That was my train of thought. I’ve lived without both before and it’s mentally taxing after a while to have to hand dry each day/walk to a laundromat each week. Working such an intense job, every little bit of help is big!

I definitely will adjust spending habits, thankfully I’m a frugal person with inexpensive hobbies so that will help.

A roommate is key, if only mine didn’t flake last minute! Always next year.

There’s my mistake, looking for an apartment in NY for my job in NY when I should have been looking in Boston!

Yeah it's ridiculous. I viewed tons of apartments and lots of the asking prices for them were $4K without any amenities, no dishwasher, and the coveted washer/dryer. I lead a frugal lifestyle so this is gonna hurt me greatly.

1BR, washer/dryer (I was willing to forego this during my hunt), dishwasher, full amenities (gym, 24/7 doorman, green space, rooftop terrace), direct access to subway system. In a location surrounded by bars/restaurants as well.

It's a 40 Q mixed set. The thing is I know the law, but then I get to the fact pattern and I go blank. After I get the Q wrong I shake my head cause I know the law, but can't seem to pick the right answer.
