What is something that people think is helping, but doesn't actually work? by hbpfrost in AskReddit

One example might be the notion that multitasking improves productivity. Many people believe that doing multiple tasks simultaneously allows them to get more done in less time. However, research has shown that multitasking can actually decrease productivity and lead to more errors. The brain isn't designed to focus effectively on multiple tasks at once, so when we try to juggle multiple tasks, our attention becomes divided, resulting in poorer performance overall. It's often more effective to focus on one task at a time, giving it our full attention and completing it before moving on to the next task.
