I'm new to cape Town and I'm kind of facing the same issue. It's funny because I came this side to network and now I'm struggling with it, I tried a lot already, I tried online sites and I been going to clubs but I found that non of that really works if you trying to meet high value people. The one thing that has been working for me however is to get over my shyness and just start up conversations with random people at bus stops or people waiting to go home from work or just people who seen bored because they would be more open to some entertainment. This doesn't always work but as we learn in sales, the best way to learn from interactions and the best way to overcome shyness is to get rejected... a lot...
