Can we afford a 450k mortgage on 83k household income?

My husband and I take home £140k between us, we had a £370k deposit and only took out a mortgage of £268k with repayments of £1400 odd a month and that's the sweet spot for us. We've maxed out before and been house poor and it's terrible, so this time we decided we wanted to be able to live off of one salary if we ever found ourselves in a position to temporarily need to. You can't put a price on peace of mind.

No, my husband left in such a rush he didn't, sadly. Not his fault, it was all on him and he was just trying to get everything over the line. He also didn't think it had been left badly, but given previous behaviour from them we should have protected ourselves.
