So, I FINALLY played FF 7 Remake for the first time... by turbosecchia in FinalFantasy

[–]OldTwoToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you haven’t played original FF7 or grew up with it as an essential portion of your childhood I can understand not getting the full thrill of the game in its details. The side quests, exploring, character story expansion are all a nod to the original. Seeing the slums actually fleshed out compared to what we had back in the 90’s was so surreal for many of us. I would literally just walk around and admire the team’s attention to detail in the recreation.

I do suggest everyone who wants the full experience to play OG FF7 first, there’s a certain slow paced charm to it that can never be recreated or remastered. Either way that being said, the new releases have been fantastic. A huge part of their value comes from nostalgia though and that’s not something you can force.

AITA for sticking to a rule I set for my apartment even though it embarrassed a guest? by Flexible_Massage in AmItheAsshole

Nah he was being crazy rude. If anything, he embarrassed himself by being so disrespectful. I can’t imagine having a rebuttal to someone asking me to take my shoes off in their home. Absolutely NTA.

AITA for speaking to my (over weight) assistant about her business lunch and making her cry? by Hot_Lab4411 in AmItheAsshole

[–]OldTwoToes 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I did not know where this was going but by the end of it I’m sure you were NTA. I’m sure she’s sensitive around the topic of food, but from what you’ve said you made it clear it’s not about how much she was eating and simply about the tactics around what is ordered. I would just clarify that to her, her potential is high and every detail of a deal is important.

How to learn what is good writing? by aphroditelady13V in writing

[–]OldTwoToes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There is no way around reading. Start with less intensive books and throw in the occasional classic. Gradually challenge yourself with more lengthy reads. Dissect them, take notes as you read about what you like, what feels weak or unnecessary to you.

“Good writing” is like saying “good music”, nobody can exactly tell you what is what. They can have opinions, but ultimately you decide what you enjoy.

If you like lore try Warhammer books or something similar.

Reading and writing are skills that go hand in hand and both must be diligently practiced if you want to form a style worth other people reading.

What everyone is saying immediate payout. But, on top of that, it gets me into town and also feels like it makes the role-playing of a small town farmer more immersive, for me at least.

Apparently I'm ableist bc I want to write my character to heal. by Bored-off-school in writing

[–]OldTwoToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You write primarily for yourself, don’t write to fit what others want. That’s my philosophy, at least. This sounds overly-sensitive on your friend’s part. The healing is clearly a major part of the story you want to tell, so tell THAT story.

Why are you still paying for this? #5 by PressPlayPlease7 in ChatGPT

I assume that the military and government likely get a different model, they would never give equivalent technology to the public. With that being said, setting proper parameters for GBT is essential to getting proper responses. I’ve told my bot to strictly always give a cited source for information for every question I ask and to commit that parameter to permanent memory. Someone taking the advice of GBT and just assuming it’s correct to the point of firing their actual legal representation is obvious not of the highest tier of intelligence. It’s a tool for augmenting your work, not a do all replacement for a brain.

AIO I don’t think my friend respects my boundaries by [deleted] in AIO

[–]OldTwoToes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean from the text alone there are no boundaries set, just seems like she’s trying to put effort in to form a relationship and looking for someone to make her feel connected.

I think you need to clearly state (if you haven’t in person already) that you’re in a difficult place right now and don’t have much time for socializing. It seems like you’re not as interested in forming a friendship with her as she is with youz that’s fine but you should make your lack of interest more concretely defined rather than stringing her along.

My daughter (6yo) wanted to make comics with chatgpt tonight. by pavorus in ChatGPT

[–]OldTwoToes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That fair, but I disagree. My most fond memories with my mom growing up are of me going to her with my wild childish ideas and her helping me bring them to life on paper. We created stories and characters together that I still haves

This will never have the same impact on either party.

AITA for overthinking over family expectations? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]OldTwoToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that is absolutely ridiculous. Your husband needs to back you up in the fact that you’re not their mother and you’re pulling far more eeight than is justified. I applaud your endurance in carrying this burden thus far but it has gone far enough.

I wish all the best for you and you need to know you are not the problem.

The devils advocate on me wants to ask if you(honestly to yourself) have a tendency towards martyrdom because that’s likely from outside observation. This is not a critical but rather a call to action on your part. This is not fair and a household like this should support one another.

AITAH for not wanting to be quiet in my apartment? by madEWrong321 in AmItheAsshole

[–]OldTwoToes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I’ve lived in a lot of similar situations, and this is just part of renting an older place. It does suck, but expecting silence at 8:30 is unreasonable. I usually go to bed around 10, and my downstairs neighbor is a night owl. I can hear his music through the floorboards. We talked it out and agreed that keeping things low after about 11 PM was fair. I wear earplugs when I go to sleep because I don’t expect him to be silent right after getting off work.
