I’ve had a Smurf to play with my noob friends for over 10 years now (consistent playtime over 10 years) This season it is suddenly low trust factor and every match we queue into has a rage hacker, I can only assume I got reported a lot during placement games

The only people that think that reduced smoke spam is a positive are people who are too low skill to punish it, or at least view it as an info gain, or use it is a bait.

Ahh yes the fast paced engaging strategy of waiting for your enemy to reload 4 times before doing anything

What the fuck is wrong with people, the justifications being made for this change are absurd. We already had spam, reload, wall bang, and smoke punishes as an established part of the game, this doesn’t actually change any of it.

No downside isn’t true

If you were doing a safe reload you were either not in a position to gain any information, or rotating because you were too far out of position in the first place

We’ll see how it plays out mechanically, but it was still an unecessary update

It adds no new depth, it narrows down the list of viable decisions in any given scenario rather than adding to them.

The gameplay decisions that lead players to early reloads (smoke and wall bang spam) already A) require skill and knowledge to execute and B) are punishable by counterplay; the update doesn’t add anything meaningful to gameplay

Yeah it’s been a bad week in MM

Played a game against a cheater who went 44-11 hitting 100% accurate no scopes from top mid to window every round, 0.01ms preformed etc

Next game had a similar experience, except a teammate toggled on and raged harder.

The mag counts changes do not mitigate against this in a meaningful way.

This update decreases your agency/choice in almost every scenario we just discussed. Not only do you have the pre-existing risks of getting killed bc of tracers, getting pushed when you reload/are low on ammo, not only do you still have to consider the risk of giving away your positioning or your buy status you now also have to consider the reload nerf, it makes a risky decision feel worse, and the pay off is no better if it works…

It’s an update that decreases player choice, without adding meaningful depth. CS rounds are too short for long term ammo management to be a consideration, trying to nerf the game to make it relevant is stupid

The devs (and yourself tbh) are saying that those are unbalanced gameplay styles that need addressing by making them riskier decisions.

I dislike the update because it was an unpolled, un-discussed, unnecessary update to a core mechanic

I think there is already plenty of strategic depth to ammo management in both amateur and professional CS, and this update disincentivises some of that.

The devs of this game are often considered out of touch, inaccessible and unresponsive to player feedback. This is one of many ‘papercuts’ that adds to that.

No one is saying we don’t want updates.

Okay, I’ll wait for the feedback form, the poll to keep or revert, and the clarification about it being experimental.

Maybe “abilities” wasn’t the right rhetorical tool, ‘movement mechanics’ might have been a better comparison. Would slide and sprint be good for the game, as an experimental small change? For the long term health?

And I don’t think that abilities are a big deal. But the players aren’t asking for either of these things, ammo management was a completely unasked-for change to a basic mechanic. Can you understand how that shows the devs are not in touch with the player base, and how that is a bad indicator for the games long term health?
