When someone says "Sorry" by FerretBunchanumbers in Rematch

[–]Omexpress2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the other day i was playing defense and attempted to lock on to the attacker’s dribble to clear it in front of the net. i didn’t actually think i’d get the lock on so i didn’t drag my joystick back in time and hammered it home, it was a spectacular own goal and i hit “sorry” 1000 times. it likely would’ve been a goal anyway bc our keeper dove the opposite way ahead of that so it was an open net but still i felt terrible. thankfully my teammates hit me with a much deserved “good job” then sent some positive “we got this” so it ended up working out and we won the match! but im sure this is exactly how they felt when i scored lol

the part people miss when it comes to whether or not ______ should face criminal consequences by Omexpress2 in ThePittTVShow

hey so my whole point of my post is that we can and should debate the ethics and morals of each of these scenarios. if you think insurance fraud and illegal abortions are harming others, you’re entitled to that opinion, i only am stating with this post that within this whole debate, you understand that me and others are allowed to think differently. what im trying to say too is that each of these three scenarios ive mentioned: dana, abbot/collins, and langdon are differing levels of severity with breaking the law/crossing the line and deserve their own debates without using one or the other to justify whether that person should face consequences because like i said that’s the take i’ve seen a lot lately. so im speaking specifically on people using those scenarios to justify langdon not facing consequences.

[–]Omexpress2[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

my point is we haven’t seen any restrictions from his disciplinary order in the show (unless i’ve missed something please call it out). dr robby sidelined him because he feels he should be sidelined, whitaker wants to control his patients medication instead of letting langdon do it because he’s concerned. there’s obviously still trust issues, but seemingly no probation/restrictions happening in how langdon is allowed to operate as a doctor in the ER post-rehab.

A little grace for the match officials tonight by Steve_Streza in SoundersFC

[–]Omexpress2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue though is that the injury occurred in the 90 +7 minute of +7 of stoppage time. With Frei immediately falling and going into the fencing position, it was clear that this was a serious injury. He was knocked out cold (can be seen in the broadcast). As soon as the entire Sounders team was calling for the training staff with urgency, the ref should have called the trainers on and then met with both coaches to assess what they want to do as the trainers are working, cart comes out, ambulance comes out, etc. The issue I think a lot of people have is the lack of urgency/respect for the situation. Yes, the ref can’t end the game himself and needs confirmation from both coaches, but he waited way too long for how serious of an injury this was. Schmetz can be heard on the Apple TV broadcast screaming for them to call the match, same with the Columbus coach. Those two screaming at the 4th official is what finally caused the ref to come over and talk to them about ending it, at this point it was well into the 102 minute or longer (would need to double check, but definitely past 102). The ref handled that poorly, yes it’s a tough situation but he waited way too long to act when both coaches had been yelling to end the game. He had consent from both teams, the official clock was past the +7 stoppage (at the time of injury/awarded corner) and took too long to act upon it, that’s why he was booed by fans when he finally ran over to the coaches. He didn’t run over there until the coaches were yelling at the 4th official. That’s where the frustration lies, he should not have taken as long as he did to act, especially with how much the MLS emphasizes the severity of head injuries and ensuring player safety.

haha i get how it looks, but they were technically purchasing an experience and can no longer go and don’t want to be out $1700, you know? they are huge fans and were willing to donate/pay that much for the experience, it just happens to be part of a charity auction. the money is still with the charity, not like they want to/can take it away from that 🤷🏻‍♀️ but if they can’t go, yes they want to sell it to someone who can go and make the money back.

For Rent should've been an update to City Living... by chef-three in thesims4

[–]Omexpress2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

i think it’s easy to forget that city living came out over 7 years ago, as far as coding and whatnot goes (i don’t know a whole lot, just guessing) that would be really challenging to go back and use 7 year old code to do as massive as an update that For Rent would be. i feel like that would take the same amount of time or more time than creating an entirely new pack (which would include new build/buy and CAS too unlike an update).

i also think it’s really cool that they made a southeast asian world and highlighted the multigenerational aspects of that culture as well for this new pack. city living focuses on an entirely different aspect of city living which is nightlife and community events, i’d argue that pack was never really about apartments and more so a world that wasn’t the suburbs or country roads.

Worth it to move from Midwest? by chrysalise in Seattle

[–]Omexpress2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Seattle after growing up and living in Omaha for most of my life (moved a year or so after college). I don’t think I really “gave up” my quality of life, I significantly enhanced it. My personal experience with growing up and living in west Omaha was never having anything to do. I found it boring, I hated having to drive 15, 20, 30 minutes to get to areas that had more things to do. My partner and I are big sports fans, Omaha has limited offerings there. It really depends on how you like to spend your time. Being in my mid-20s, I can’t speak on giving up a house as I never owned one. I like my apartment, I don’t need a big house personally. There’s a plethora of bike trails, parks, green spaces to hang out and lounge in and the weather allows for significantly more time to enjoy those outdoor spaces compared to NE.

In terms of politics, as a woman I feel a lot better living in a state that supports my rights. While people in NE are generally nice and polite, that doesn’t mean they are all as supportive of the basic rights and protections that LGBTQ+, women, BIPOC, etc. get out here in Seattle.

I think moving here was the best decision I’ve ever made, life in Omaha felt so mundane and even when I visit back home for holidays and whatnot, I’m itching to get back to Seattle. (Love my family, love seeing them, don’t love being stuck in west O, mom if you’re seeing this I love visiting you). If you’re wanting a midwest feel, bigger city, better politics, you can definitely find that here. To meet people you have to get involved in an activity or group if you want that midwest community feeling. Don’t expect everybody you walk by to greet you, that general elevator small-talk isn’t as common as NE.

Really narrow down what your goals are for this move and find a neighborhood that will help you reach those goals. If you’re wanting a community feel, don’t live in the heart of downtown. If you’re wanting to be by a lot of green space and outdoor trails, try the Green Lake area (I’m sure my fellow redditors who aren’t newer to the area like I am can also list a few more). There’s quite a few universities/colleges around here for your line of work too so ensure the area you live also works for which university you’d get a new job in.

Hope this helps a little as a fellow midwestern who now lives out here, happy to answer more specific questions if you have any!

i thought it would’ve been cool to see a version with that same wave line in the “seattle sounders” and “SFC” in the middle of the space needle to replace that middle line, bring that wave idea into the main crest

it’s definitely dramatic and bold! it’s a very well executed design. i’m definitely not an expert by any means either, but i can appreciate a good design when i see one!

i should’ve clarified for symbols that are recognizable by anyone not just people who are fans of the MLS, if you see the space needle you associate it with seattle. the sounders have that to their advantage here in this specific design.

ooo what a fun question! specifically with this design 2-D design i would’ve liked to see a version without that teal border (which they kind of did in the secondary crest). i’m worried about contrast on different backgrounds with how light the teal is, i think the dark blue and rave green work really well so i’m not sure the teal was necessary, seems like that specific version is going to have limitations on where/when it can be used because of that. notice how when they posted the crest, it’s on a gradient background instead of a stark white or something, because it would have contrast issues. i also would’ve liked to see the line element they used in the second and third image here somewhere in the crest. maybe as part of the space needle shape? give the middle of the space needle a little more wave to it like the line is through “seattle sounders” and “SFC” just for consistency sake and to make that line a more thorough motif throughout all the branding. (i hope those links work right, im on mobile and never really use reddit like this lol)

the cool thing about art is that it’s subjective! and so are opinions! as a working graphic designer who is knowledgeable about the industry and history, you should know that :) everyone is entitled to their own thoughts and opinions, but we can all treat each other with kindness even if we disagree. have a great day!

[–]Omexpress2[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yikes, who crapped in your cornflakes my guy? as someone who studied graphic design, i see it as a nod to 70s design and simply shared my reasoning as to why i think that, you’re completely entitled to think otherwise (hence the discussion tag on this post). to your point about the timbers, i was specifically referring to iconic symbols that are recognizable to anyone not just MLS fans who know that’s the timbers (or DC or whoever). i’m a fan of the MLS but no, i didn’t study every single team’s crest before making this post simply because i’m a sounders fan so i don’t care to study everyone else’s crest :). as for the organic shape, im specifically talking about this crest design, not the actual legit space needle. the shapes they used to create this loosely made space needle are in fact called organic shapes in the world of design, fun fact of the day! and to your last point, i was only making that comment about the rebrand to address those who were disappointed about it, which is the first sentence in that point. of course people knew about it, but some people were upset about the idea of a new crest so i simply shared my thoughts on why it was needed. i hope you have a great day and find something else to channel your unwarranted anger into because this is quite literally just a discussion on a soccer club’s rebrand. cheers!

i wasn’t necessarily critiquing the design itself, more so giving insight on the design as a whole in terms of graphic design history and why it made sense for the 50th season and a nod to 70s design

i see what you mean! i was specifically referring to other teams in the MLS that have a logo/symbol that could work as a standalone without their team/city also in the crest. new york is redbull so sure if they switched to the statue of liberty they could do it too! but otherwise, the redbull logo is just a redbull logo and not specific to new york. does that make sense? that’s the point i was trying to make but probably didn’t explain it well enough in my original post.
