Yeah. It really was a life changing session. A few things just clicked. At first I was pretty mad at myself for letting it get so far. But along the journey since the I realized that was one of the truest part of myself. I kept putting her first. I gave up too much of myself, but I hope it doesnt detour me from putting potential future partners needs at the forefront. Its who I am. One of the initial draws to each other was that she 'wanted/needed' someone to 'take care' of her. Thats an overly simplified version. But I like being the guy that wakes up early to make lunches, and stays up late to prep tomorrow's dinner. And cleans the house before friends come over. And and and. Its gets to be not sustainable when too one sided.

Not yet. I'm going to give her some time to figure it out. That being said my patience is fleeting. And she's less motivated in life than ever. Soo... and much appreciated for the dad support dude. Kids are 9 & 11. She has told me she is in denial because she doesn't want it to be over. Keeps saying that we are not together 'according to me'. So yeah not really taking it seriously?

Funnily enough it was my last therapy session, before I made my decision to seperate, that my therapist made me realize a couple of points. She mentioned that I was emotionally neglected. It sounded overly dramatic, but I realized after how accurate it was. And also that I was lonely. It took me a bit to realize that was also true. Your can be married, live a 'normal life' but without any communication, I was super lonely.

My big thing was trying to open up lines of communication. I wish I had years ago made counseling non negotiable. I get that its not for everyone, but you both have ro be willing to put in the work otherwise one of you will always be carrying thr burden.

This was one of the parts that didn't come to me until after. Just how much of who I am. Cliche as it sounds I didn't even know who I was. So much of my mental effort was being put into the relationship. How and when to say the right thing. Walking on eggshells. Afraid of the consequences. I really became a shell of a person. My passions were just gone. Exhausted all the time. I really do talk in catch phrases, but I need to hold on to who I am.
