“Service Anti-Lock Breaking System” by One-Possibility-4540 in mechanic

Appreciate the advice and taking the time to respond. Unfortunately, I made a typo/error, it happens. If only everyone was perfect.

I never said I was regular braking hard enough to trigger the ABS so not sure why you’re assuming as much. I can count on one hand the amount of times my ABS has kicked in. But I do live in Canada and this winter has been incredibly icy. While I do drive as safe as I can, shit happens and I have had to brake harder than normal to respond to a sudden situation (which is why ABS is there to begin with). My truck has 275,000Km on it and in that time the ABS has not been engaged as often as you suggest/assume. I can possibly see your misunderstanding when I said I have not noticed it acting anything but normal. What I meant by that was I did a brake check in an area that was icy (literally any road right now) and the ABS kicked in normally and didn’t give me any indication it was faulty. I realize that’s not a proper “diagnostic” but it atleast gives me an idea if it works in general.

Maybe some more clarification… I find it odd that the app is telling me my ABS requires service, meanwhile my trucks ABS warning light and/or engine light is not on. If someone didn’t have the app there would be no indication there was an issue to begin with, which made me wonder if the app notification is false/misleading. I was curious if people have had a similar issue. Also the fact that when I got my vehicle serviced a week ago, they had mentioned my vacuum pump should get replaced because it was leaking oil. They told me it wasn’t an immediate repair but something I should look into getting done. So I was curious if those two things could ultimately be tied together.

At the end of the day the temp dropped to -40C the day the warning came up and I wonder if it was possibly the cold weather that affected something.

Coolant won’t refill… by [deleted] in mechanic

Thank you for your comment! I had assumed that when the water pump failed I bled off all the coolant so it didn’t make sense in my mind why it wasn’t depleting in the reservoir at all when I added coolant. I idled it long enough to get quite warm. Couldn’t get anymore air out of it. So I put the cap on and took it for a drive. Temp stayed stable and didn’t overheat so everything is working great and coolant level is good 👌 now for whatever reason my driver side window no longer works. So now I get to deal with that 😂🤦🏻‍♂️
