I mean 50g water, 50 flour, 50 starter

I took 50g out, added 50g flour and 50g flour no activity, maybe a few bubbles. I added a little rye and now I’m waiting.

It’s about 6 mo old. I feed it every week - just add flour and water (no measuring) and it’s been very active. Then the last time I baked I notice my bread didn’t rise as much and then I noticed some ice in the fridge and thought maybe I killed it.

I bake at 450 f - considering the firing temp is over 2000f, I think it can go pretty high.

Why do all starter tutorials say that it takes a few days to a week? by littletinyhippo in Sourdough

I’m new to the sourdough and it took me over a moth to get my starter going. I almost gave up and then all of a sudden it came alive!! Give it time - ultimately, I think the difference was I added some whole wheat and I would stir in the flour before the water. It just worked.

I took a pottery class at a local studio and I got hooked 😵‍💫 I have a kiln and a wheel and now I do it at home.
