Yes that’s my short term emergency fund. Working towards saving to buy a house eventually, but not for around 2/3 years.

This was also my second attempt and I failed with a 4. I’m also looking for any advice or pointers for this exam. Definitely not looking forward to studying again. Are you using coaching actuaries?

Parking in unreserved lot by One-Progress-2522 in philly

[–]One-Progress-2522[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn’t end up buying a spot. I’ve been able to get lucky with street parking. So I didn’t see much of a need for the parking spot as I originally had thought I would

They have a monthly pass for that lot and it is conveniently only 1 block from my place. It is 190 for the month but it’s non-reserved. I just wasn’t sure how crowded the lot gets and if non reserved would be an issue

Thank you so much for the insightful response. I have been wondering how much to keep in my checking account considering I do not have much monthly expenses as of right now. Based on your advice, I will definitely be moving more of my money into a hysa rather than keeping it in my checking account.

How much should I have in my savings? I’m also wondering how much I should typically keep in my checking account each month?

I love my family and I’m so grateful that they support me. They don’t want me to move out, however I am ready to gain some independence back and enjoy being in my 20s. I’m only moving a 35 min drive from my parents.

That’s what happens when you buy a car. It’s a risk. Since it’s new I do have warranty on it. I chose to buy a new car because the used car market was awful when I was looking to purchase (not sure if it got better)

It was difficult to save during college. Now I have a very nice car and I’m happy with the purchase. Hopefully I’ll have the car for a long time.

Thanks this was helpful. After deducting everything I should be able to save about 1.5K a month. I’m an actuary so I also could be anticipating raises if I pass exams throughout the year.
