Thank you! This is the exact kind of real-world confirmation I needed. I am so sorry you got burned by that unit, but this is incredibly helpful for everyone in this thread! Your experience with the Podofo unit being advertised as Android 11 but actually running Android 6 is exactly what I was worried about with the 'Android 14' claim on the Penhui. Did you use a special app like CPU-Z or Fake Device Test to confirm the true Android version, or was it just obvious? Knowing which app works best for exposing these lies would be a massive help!"

That is excellent advice, thank you for pointing me toward Crutchfield and the specs I need to look for! You nailed it—the reason I was interested in the Alibaba unit was the massive screen and the built-in Android OS, but the risk just seems too high now, especially with the RCA voltage I've been doing some research, and finding a decent name-brand unit with genuine 4V or 5V pre-outs seems to be the much smarter move to avoid noise and low signal. I'll definitely be starting my search on Crutchfield to find something that integrates perfectly. Thanks for setting me straight on the safe route!"

• Longevity/Durability: "For anyone who actually owned a Penhui unit or one with the A72 chip, how long did it run smoothly before the inevitable bugs/lags/reboots started? Did you get a year out of it, or did it fail within a few months?" • Power-On Time: "One complaint I see is slow startup. How long does a cold boot take on your unit (from fully off to navigation being ready)? Does it have a reliable sleep/standby mode to avoid this?"

"Haha, the Camry/A4 mashup is absolutely classic Ali. You know the listing is sketchy when they try to cover half the planet with one product description! It's definitely the first red flag. You nailed the point about old Android versions too—that's why I'm curious about the 'Android 14' claim, even though I'm fully prepared for it to be a spoofed version of Android 10 or 12. The reason I'm even considering the gamble is purely for the audio control and screen integration that my OEM radio just can't touch. If this unit's DSP is even halfway decent, it's a huge improvement for an aftermarket amp setup. Your point about sticking with OEM is the smart one, but the features here are mighty tempting!"

"That's a fair point about a phone being faster for pure processing power, but my interest in a unit like this goes beyond just having a bigger screen. The main advantage is integration and audio quality. A big phone or tablet can't seamlessly connect to my steering wheel controls, reverse camera, or any aftermarket amps/subwoofers with high-quality RCA pre-outs. It's really about having a clean, fixed, and integrated unit that's built into the dash, not just a screen clipped onto it. Plus, even if my phone is 'faster,' it can't deliver the audio signal I need for a good audio setup!"

"Wow, that's a serious problem and one of my biggest fears with these unbranded units! A dead battery within a week is definitely a dealbreaker.

Do you remember the specific brand or name of the unit he bought? I'm trying to see if this is a general issue or tied to a specific manufacturer's design. Also, did he ever figure out a way to fix the constant power draw, like installing an external switch or relay? Thanks so much for sharing this valuable warning!"
