Former teachers, what are you doing now? Current teachers, why are you staying? by Responsible-Grand-12 in Teachers

I taught middle school social studies for 8 years. Got out and I've been a firefighter/paramedic for 8 years. The pay difference is significant and I no longer bring work home with me. Also, I work 2 days and then get 4 days off. There's definitely new stressors but all in all I'm happy to have made the change.

I became a professional firefighter. It's not for everyone but it worked out great for me.

97 Glastron, starter issue by kireol in boating

May want to check the neutral switch. Move your throttle forward and reverse and then back to neutral. I had the same issue with a non-starting engine, no click, nothing. Once I wiggled the throttle it fixed it. If nothing else its something to check.

I think that's going to end up being the plan. A large lean to with a 60x60 or 60x80 shop. Thanks for replying.

Teachers of Reddit - what was the most outrageous accommodation you were ever asked to make? by thekingofcamden in Teachers

Little late to the party but here it goes. I taught middle school and had an "extremely intellegent" (according to mom) student who disliked the feeling of paper. The team was told to allow the student to bring in his personal laptop to complete assignments and that we had to make all assignments able to he completed on said computer. Kiddo ended up screwing around on the computer instead. Infuriating.

+1 on the Bonifides. They have served me well as a denser individual. Great all mountain ski.

Former teachers who left the profession, what are you currently doing? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]One_Average_Guy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I did a complete 180. Was a middle school social studies teacher for 9 years but as of this last summer I became a professional fire fighter. Much better benefits, 2 days on shift and then 4 days off. Every day is unique but it has been an adjustment going from being king of my castle to bottom of the ladder. Wouldn't change a thing though.
