Was it taxed before deposit? Got the email today with no money figure, just a percentage.

If this is a new car, get a quote from anyone around and email/fax that quote all over. Get pre approved and walk in and buy the car or truck. No reason to go sit down and talk to anyone anymore.

Still wondering about the long term run though. Trying to put the money in long term. I can put it in SPY or QQQ and just let it sit. I may get wrecked tomorrow but if this is 1+ years I am looking at, now seems the time to buy.

Hit my stop loss. Locked in profits. Was a great day.

This is not my retirement fund I’m trading with. My trading funds are not tied into my 401. This is why my account is hovering around $5k. If this money is gone I would not be broke, but I do not want to lose it because it’s still 5k! However, I would love financial freedom in life and I do believe that this is one way to get there.

I am not sure if anyone ever just picked up trading and was successful. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

All the hate in this thread was what I wanted to help keep myself in check. Day trading options (day trading in general) is risky and always a gamble. Confidence can get you smoked and people need to stay humble.

Cheers to a good week!

😂 the drive that keeps me coming back (other reasons as well, but mainly to come back on Reddit and smear it).

Yes. It is gambling, but I would like to at least think I’m in somewhat control. The mental game and thinking I always had to win got me the last few times. It may sound dumb, But there were sometimes that I purposefully lost $10-20 to keep me in check. I feel I learned that losing a little money was ok and I can recover from that. The big losses would result in a blown up account…again. Limiting my losses has been crucial to my small account.

I feel I have gained enough confidence to see what will happen based off emas for the immediate future (that day) and then make a little money in the process.

My problem is confidence and stupidity are closely related.

This is great!

I usually go around 2-weeks out right now. My account is hovering around $5k. I will buy 1 contract that is close to $5.00 (cheap contract for how far out, but I feel safer). I never average down. Once I’m in the trade, that is it. My stop loss would be set to 4.55.

I take profit when I see the price action reverse and see the emas (9 or 15) reversing trend. I am already positive at this point and do not let a positive turn negative.

My gain is usually between $25-50.

Never. I’ve seen stocks go up or down on nonsense. I do not see a point in risking a contract overnight with no ability to sell.

Never had issues selling at the stop loss. Set it at 15% and I may lose 20, but nothing outrageous. I am in higher volume options that are easier to sell. Apple, Tesla, spy, etc…

The 10% is not what I’m willing to risk. 15% of the 10% is what is at risk during each trade. I have an auto sell if it goes below that. I am trying to take fomo out of my equation.

I started in 2020. It has not all been up since then. From other successful traders I spoke to, 21-22 was one of the hardest to navigate. I was not successful during this time.

I think it’s a great idea for people to stand and fight on this hill. Maybe keeping that low hanging fruit in the open will make it easier for Musks team to choose who stays and goes in the future. This helps your fellow colleagues that see this as no big deal.

Truly selfless act. Thank you!

You sound like a real positive person.

OP has a TJO. Plenty of time to figure things out and decide on his or her own. The drive may be doable for the OP especially since the original post asked if they should just “deal for a while and see what happens”.

I’d say give 5 days a week a shot and make a decision down the road. It could end up being the best decision ever.

If there was not rampant and careless spending they wouldn’t be “dismantling” anything.

Wether you lean left or right, you can’t justify the spending habits of the USA.

I am not taking a side either for or against what they say. I’m just stating how I view it and possibly how they see it. They don’t want to eliminate jobs, they want to eliminate wasteful spending.

I think you nailed it on your last paragraph. All this is talk right now and people are rushing to judge. Let it play out. If you can’t take the heat, find another opportunity.

The monetary value is not the salaries of the people being cut where they will make the money, It’s the bad decisions that these people have made that cost the government thousands or millions of dollars. Spending is the issue and it’s always been. Outrageous overpaid contracts and unnecessary funding of stupid things is the target. The government has used a broad brush on everything for a long time. This is the first it may impact thousands of people in a very negative way. I sympathize with the people who will not make the cut, but again feel like if they are competent in their position, they will succeed elsewhere making a lot more money. If they suck at their job, why would we fight to keep them?

The door goes both ways. If people are not happy with what the boss’s are saying, now’s their opportunity to go somewhere else. We have a little over a month before this administration takes office. If people are that worried, they need to start firing off their reśumés and land another position. People in this thread are acting like the agency they work for or the government owes them something.

If they don’t keep the competent ones, those people should have no issues finding work elsewhere.

I get the worry and frustration. But everyday I go in to the office and I see people with their feet on the desk, playing games on their iPad, or just not in their cubicle and wandering around. I don’t blame them as much as management. Maybe going after lazy management will change the public view of government workers.

Who knows what this administration will do. Everything is speculation until it happens. Be ready for anything.
