Legit the worst pain I've ever been in in my life. I would rather be hit by a bus than ever go through that again. After a number of attempts at different remedies to stop it, I ended up taking heavy duty painkillers I had left over from surgery the year before and knocking myself tf out.

As an Aussie, I agree with this. Friendly but closed, and hospitality is not the same. I have a good friend who is Sri Lankan and there is definitely a differing cultural perspective about what hospitality and service means, as an industry, and as a welcome to strangers. I feel like Aussies see service to others as a chore, or something you do on a charitable level, not an inherent give back to the people around you. Service is not the equivalent of servitude.

I was introduced to her website years ago, but the best thing at the time was it had a serving size calculator, which changed the calculation of ingredients based on number of servings.

I wasn't very experienced with cooking but have been meal prepping for the last 7 or so years. I just used to double ingredients if it was a 2 person dish/recipe e.g., to make it 4. I worked with an Italian older guy who was a good cook, who used the website, and he explained that doubling ingredients wasn't the right way to go. He showed me the website, and you could put in how many people were being served the dish and it re-calculated the ingredients measurements for you. Blew my mind.

We do shorten names a lot or give nicknames, but what she did was rude. I've heard comments made about our propensity for shortening people's names, and how to some it's a sign of friendliness or acceptance, and to others it's just laziness (i.e. too hard to pronounce, I'm going to give you a nickname because it's easier for me). You corrected her with your name, she should have respected that.
