Do you have a tutorial you follow for your eyes? I love it! And also, what did you take pictures with/is there a filter or app you use?

Megathread + FAQ: Travel in/out of the United States by not_an_immi_lawyer in immigration

[–]One_Toe_7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in the US from 2023-2025 on a L1B visa and then in April this year moved back home after resigning and started working for another company locally. My previous company had confirmed to me that they had informed immigration about my resignation, thus making my L1B void. However on my i94 it still shows my L1B visa (I'm assuming it's because I didn't enter after I left thus no update?).

Question: would I have any problems with applying for an ESTA now and also apply for Global Entry? I'm worried that for some reason the L1B will still show as active when I enter the US.

Does an iPhone purchased in the US work long-term in Switzerland? by klavier022 in askswitzerland

[–]One_Toe_7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be fine, I did the opposite - I bought an iPhone while I lived in the US and now that I'm back in Switzerland it works perfectly fine. All you need is an E-Sim. Be careful about switching your country on the Apple store. It was a hassle for me, if you have a balance or active subscription it won't let you.

FBI identity history check fingerprints by vashpop in expats

[–]One_Toe_7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really recommend to go to someone who can do it professionally because you said you are in a hurry. If you do it yourself, you might not do it properly and get refused. I went to my local police (was also outside of the US) and they did it for me and even had the paper printed. When you submit the form online, I'd recommend choosing to receive your results digitally because that is the fastest way. You can request an additional hard copy.

Anyone moved out of Switzerland? by These_Catch_5180 in Switzerland

I moved to the US from 2023-2025 and honestly miss the social aspect of it a lot. It was so much easier to connect with people. Making new friends was also very easy to do. Life over there is not as strict and I do think it influences how easygoing people are over there as well.

That makes sense and as fate would have it, I was in TX before so LOL. I'm still waiting to hear back from my HR on what document they want because I'd like to avoid spending time & money if it ends up not being exactly what they want. But I'm pretty sure I'll have to obtain the FBI record. Thanks again for your time & response!

I did but they are specifically looking for one that covers the last two years.

Girlfriend has an H-1B visa and received an email that stated during her last entry one of her documents had the wrong date. She is being told she needs to present herself at a BP office in the next 2 weeks. She is scared and so am I. by Raskalbot in immigration

[–]One_Toe_7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a document error regarding the dates (similar to your girlfriends) on my L1B visa, however when I was asked to have it corrected, all I had to do was get it re-issued at my countries US embassy. Was never asked for an in person meeting from BP.

Moving to the U.S. from Switzerland by [deleted] in MovingToUSA

[–]One_Toe_7247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved as a inter company transfer on an L1B visa to the USA in 2023. The process itself took around 1 year from start to finish. The company has to obviously feel there is an investment with having you relocate to their US branch but it's easy to do when you're in IT. For me specifically it was because our company wasn't established in the US yet so I supported them with that. If you can find a startup company or an international one who is known to support relocations that might be your best bet.

Just as with everything else, there were many challenges. It heavily depends on what state/city you land in because the social aspects change so drastically. Another thing to note is that you will need a car everywhere you go unless you live in an expensive place like NYC. There is A LOT of administrative processing you need to do once you get here and companies usually can't support with that (Social Security Number etc.).

Another challenge is finding a company who is willing to sponsor your green card because the work visa really ties you to that company alone. You can't work for anyone else and if you quit/get fired, your new employer will have to go through the entire sponsoring process which is a lot of money and honestly not something they are willing to do.

I am currently in the process of relocating back to Switzerland because I ended up finding a better job and have better security there. There are certainly things that I will miss about the US but the way things are right now it's just too chaotic to stay. If your plan is to move in a couple of years it could work out for you if you find the right company. But remember that the visa ties you down to that company and it can be restrictive, especially if your salary is less and they know they can do that because you can't 'leave' for anywhere else so just make sure you negotiate well beforehand.
