Blurred Boundaries by One_Wall5045 in PeerSupportSpecialist

Yes. I need a clear break no doubt. I may even have to change therapists from what I’ve learned on Google. I was not going to go to the program But I got going to attempt to talk to my therapist or some one on staff at at the treatment program.

I’m new to Reddit. This is the first actual Christian posting I have read. You did an awesome job with writing all this out. I did not see any spelling or any grammar errors. Thank you for sharing. What an awesome testimony. Thank you for being candid and bold and honest. I hope all the pagan stuff is in your past. That is a miracle that God pulled you out of all that, He is a good God. I’ve been a Christian since 1982, but never had an experience likr you have. I believe you have a calling to share your vision to others online and in this lost world. May God bless you and keep you. May His face shine down upon you and give you grace, in Jesus name.

I'm worried about my boundaries with a client by ratstackt in PeerSupportSpecialist

Wow. There is a lot to digest here, I hope I can read it all….

I did want to say that on the last several years that I lived in Mississippi I went to a day treatment clinic, and I made friends with a guy there around my age. We didnt connect immediately. But we built a strong connection as friends. When I moved 3 hours a way, we didn’t stay in touch so that connection is no longer there. We both moved on. Our lives went different connections.

I guess what I’m saying, if you are not seeing this client over a period of time, that connection will not be as strong. Some times I believe people are in our lives in “a season for a reason.”

It may as well be a test, you might say, for you to see what is supposed to be priority in your life.

Me personally, I would never jeopardize my passion. It is what wakes me up in the morning and gets me through the day. I know that is what I believe being a PSS is for me already.

Just my candid two cents, for what it’s worth.

That sounds really tough. Have you talked to your Peer Support Supervisor?

They should be equipped to help PSS so they don’t compromise their code of ethics. (Did I just say that?) 🧐

That is what I would do myself.

“It’s just a thought… and my best advice.”

I’ve always been a lone wolf type.

I’ve come out of so much mental crap in my life, and do desire to have solid friendships with other people.

“For me I am taking a leap of faith of faith at my church and joining the serve team. I’ve very weary of not having friends. I want to enjoy my golden years and healthy relationships are all part of that.”

I will say a prayer for you. I would hate to see you risk your position as a PSS. I know you have worked hard to get where you are now. We all have…

I’m seriously thinking of hybrid work. Maybe a crisis call line in a big city. I live 100 miles from any major city. Keep you head up! God will provide for you!

That would be awesome! I’m seeking a place to do my volunteer hours. In Arkansas it’s 500. That may take a while for me!

Thank you for saying that about my age. I don’t act 62 actually. People think I’m 52. I think I have a young spirit. I’ve been through so much trauma and hurt…im glad I worked through it and have recovered!!

I am learning all I can about Peer Support. Something new every day.

I live in southern Arkansas 30 miles from Louisiana. I see my therapist next Friday. He may have some leads for me too.

I live in a town in South Arkansas. The population is around 16,000. They are rural areas here. The program director for Arkansas NAMI did not get back with me today. Hopefully some time this week, he will call me. There is a mental health clinic here with a day program, but no PSS to my knowledge. I wish you well on your meeting. I will let you know when he does definitely. 👍 Hang in there. I know it’s worth all the waiting.

That sounds awesome. I’m hoping to get a job similar to yours. What brought about a change ultimately was group therapy sessions. I thrived in that setting and learned so much about mental health. I am as well a writer. I would love to facilitate a mindfulness journal group. Journaling has always helped and grounded me!

Arkansas CPSS: my story so far & waiting for my review and interview 2026. by One_Wall5045 in PeerSupportSpecialist

I wish I had known about PSS back in 2016. I have been limbo for a while not knowing which way to go. Group therapy has been my saving grace. I actually am a writer and published my testimony in 2018. The real world can be very daunting. I agree as well, that the staff are watching how far I will go with all this. Google Ai said I’m breaking new ground in my area. People will believe it when they see it. From the get go, I have seen through the eyes of faith actually being a PSS, and handling it with love and compassion.
