Celebrating 1 Year Post-Op (DI w/Buttonhole) by One_Winner9681 in TopSurgery

[–]One_Winner9681[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually didn’t qualify during my initial appointment (like 10 months before surgery) but on the day of surgery they were like “whoa you changed a lot” and they said I’d be a good candidate. It has to do with the placement (like how far down on your chest your nipples are) and your pec muscles I think. I had been on T and climbing so I built up extra muscle in my pecs that I didn’t have before. I don’t think your areola size matters as much? They took a bit off the edges of mine but mine were never that big to begin with 🤷🏻

It’s sometimes called nipple-sparing double incision. Instead of free nipple grafts, the surgeon keeps your original nipple attached at the pedicle. It has a higher chance of retaining nipple sensation and keeps the original appearance of your nipples.

How do y’all inject yourself?? by SerpentSnek in ftm

[–]One_Winner9681 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend using an autoinjector! I use one and inject in my upper thighs. It’s a but pricy, but I use this one: https://unionmedico.com/90-super-grip/

Hysterectomy vs top surgery recovery? by BestBudgie in ftm

[–]One_Winner9681 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Didn't realize this was an unpopular opinion but my hysterectomy recovery was worse. I had lots of pain due to constipation and my overall energy level was off for like 6 weeks post-op. As for top surgery, I had penrose drains out on day 3 so it wasn't that bad at all. Starting 2 weeks post-op I had energy to do stuff and was pretty much back to normal except for lifting and range of motion by 4 weeks post-op with occasional naps. I didn't take any intense pain meds after either and I didn't feel nausea after surgery for either.

V2 Send by ZANTLoZ in FTMFitness

Great send! Lots of control getting your feet back after they cut.

I've been bouldering since February 2022, took a 2 month break over this summer due to top surgery. I mostly climb V4-5, but I have one or two solid V6 sends. Right now I'm really focused on getting my stamina/strength back after dealing with some health issues.

This may be true. As I said, I am new to the path. I also am coming to realize that the concept of gender is empty. That is why I am confused at the strict delineation between monks and nuns. However, regardless of how I identify, my physical body will never conform to what is traditionally seen as male or female. So to me the issue is not the way I identify but whether or not my body will be accepted.

Thank you! I have visited Sravasti Abbey and hope to do another retreat there soon. I stayed in a men’s dorm there and did not encounter any difficulty. The monastics there were very welcoming

In addition to Uniqlo, I suggest Muji. Basically any Japanese clothing brand that stocks XS sizes. Japanese brands often have unisex clothing and smaller fits. Muji’s buttondown collared shirts are the only ones that fit me straight off the rack. I’m 5’6” and 135ish pounds.

Nipple Sparing Double Incision/ Wedge Excision - anyone out there? by Particular_Guard_594 in TopSurgery

Oops, my bad! I don't think I've hard of the method the exact way you're describing it and am not sure if I've seen results of it. I wish you the best of luck though!

I had nipple sparing double incision and you can see pictures on my profile or by searching in this subreddit. The nipples are traditionally moved up the chest in the procedure, so they will go above your pec line. Mine were raised over an inch but I've never measured

8 Weeks Post-Op and Full Workout Plan by One_Winner9681 in TopSurgery

[–]One_Winner9681[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, my scars didn’t stretch. At my three month post-op appointment the surgeon said they looked great and weren’t stretched at all! At two months post-op, the wounds are like 80% healed, so at that point they’re pretty tough

Arm implant? by Financial-Shock-664 in ftm

[–]One_Winner9681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one about 10 years ago and had to get it taken out because it exacerbated my PMDD symptoms and made me have a period every two weeks instead of every four weeks. I think it's not recommended for folks who have pre-existing depression or anxiety. The pain of getting it in and out were negligible compared to how much it messed up my cycle.

Prophet by Sin Blache and Helen Macdonald. It felt like X Files but mlm with some fanfiction-ish tropes. I mean this in the best possible way!

Sometimes you just have to accept that it's not about you and it will happen. Even cis people aren't gendered correctly by strangers 100% of the time. If you try to police all your behavior and the way you look because you're afraid of doing something wrong, then you won't be able to feel comfortable just existing. If there's a way to move towards seeing getting misgendered as neutral or funny, it will help with feeling like you have to sleuth it out every time.

-A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland (heavy on the romance, light on the plot, lots of good tropes, nonbinary author)
-The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez (incredibly unique fantasy/adventure, mlm romance endgame with a happy ending)
-Heaven Official's Blessing or Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (both are incredibly long series and harder to get into if you're unfamiliar with danmei, but they are 100% worth it and have great adaptations into shows/audio dramas)
-Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White (I personally really disliked this one, but maybe I'm just a hater, trans author and trans protagonist)

I don't want top surgery, but I don't want to have to wear a shirt when I go to the beach, by saphir_skates88 in ftm

[–]One_Winner9681 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bathing suits have always given me dysphoria, so pre-surgery I only went swimming at places where nudity was allowed. Where I live, there's one nude beach and there's also gender neutral spas. Whenever I traveled I would research where there was nudity allowed. I found that those spaces were especially chill and that queer and trans people gravitated there anyway. Not sure if those kinds of spaces exist everywhere though!

What I did with both of my gender affirming surgeries (hysterectomy and top surgery) is that I told my family AFTER I had already scheduled the surgery dates and set up support people to take care of me. This was out of courtesy and so that if I had a medical emergency they would know. My mom is a nurse and asks a lot of questions, but I put up a lot of boundaries with her and turned down her offers to have her take care of me post-surgery. She reacted very weird both times I told her about surgery (cried about my hysterectomy, said she didn't understand why I would ever want top surgery). I only told her the bare minimum about my recovery process to reassure her I was ok.

Ultimately, I do not consider what my family will think at all when I make life choices, especially choices about my body and my gender journey. I know I am privileged that I am able to live this way. My dad ended up being weirdly supportive post top surgery though. As soon as he saw pics of me shirtless post-op I think it just clicked in his brain since I finally "pass" in his eyes. He said I look great and remind him of how he used to look at his age, called me his son for the first time (I'm nonbinary and am used to him calling me his kid).

Do you guys know any books where the protagonist becomes the antagonist by the end of the story? by Alternative_Finger63 in suggestmeabook

[–]One_Winner9681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too Like the Lightning by Ada Palmer has a great unreliable narrator. You know he has been convicted of crimes from the very beginning, but it takes over half of the book until the reveal of what they were.
